I woke up and had a look around my new dormitory. Everyone was still asleep. There was Joel, the supposed 'boy with the glasses' who thought I was a video game character. There was Rocker, a nice girl who had toured me around the school. And there was Judy, the rude and arrogant one. I hate her so bad. Anyway, I decided to read some more of the book. I dont know where my bookmark is. I think it may be at home. Never mind. I can always look for it when I go home for the Christmas holidays. For the meanwhile, I'll make a temporary one.

Joel woke up not long after that and he said drowsily, "Guh mornihh,"

" Good morning." I reply to a very sleepy Joel.

" Hah you sin my glassy?" He asked, rubbing his eyes.

"Sorry?"

"Hah you sin my glassy?"

"Oh! No I haven't seen your glasses. Let me help you look for them. You stay there. I don't want you to fall." I got up, looking under the bed and in the drawers. I finally found them under his pillow. "Ha! Got them." I handed them over to Joel. "Thags," he mumbled and put them on.

When Judy woke up, she went into her closet, came out fully dressed and left the room. She did not say good morning or even smile. "Is she always like this?" I asked Joel, who had now recuperated.

"Who, Judy? Yes, she wasn't happy about being put in this dormitory. In this school, when you join, you complete a survey that tells the admin whether you are a superhero or supervillain, or neutral. Judy's supposed to be a superhero, but she's so mean. Neutral means you have no powers, by the way. The survey also tells the admin what evacuation group you're in. Did you recently move here?" Joel asked me.

"Yes I did."

"Ok, so, your evacuation group is the Evacuation HQ you have to go to when you have to leave Rocktown for some reason. My evacuation group is Badgerie. Which means I have to go to the Badgerie HQ. The HQ's provide protection for the people. Got it?"

"Yes..." I trailed off.

"Don't worry," Joel laughed. "you'll get used to it."

I was eating my breakfast in the cafeteria and drinking my hot vanilla latte with my newfound friends, Joel and Rocker, when suddenly Judy came up to me.

"To what do I owe the pleasure?" I said sarcastically.

"Tara wants to fight you." Judy huffed. She was trying to be aloof, but I could see from the growing smirk on her face that this was amusing her a little. "Who is Tara?" I asked.
"She's only the greatest junior supervillain in all of Rocktown!" Joel sounded panicked. "No one has ever defeated her before. She normally checks to see if anyone is better than her. So she declares a battle with a new student who is at risk of damaging her title."

"Ok... I've never been in a fight before. Tell her I'll come when I'm ready. And I don't like people staring at me, thanks." I said to Judy, who left abruptly. Joel looks horrified. Rocker looks quite surprised. I'm starting to dread this a little. I won't die, will I?

After breakfast, I go down to the courtyard. Man, word spreads quickly in this place. There are lots of people watching. Waiting. Listening.

"I see you actually have the guts to show up." Tara sneers.

"Well, I'm not a coward, and I might beat you. So there's no need to brag." I reply coolly.

There is a gasp of outrage from the crowd. Tara balls her fists. I can tell she's not used to being spoken like this before. "Let the best fighter win!" She shouts.

A Japanese girl is refereeing the fight. She is holding both flags. One is black with a green alien head on, and one is yellow with a black 'T' on. She holds up both flags and says something in Japanese. Tara walks up to me. I do the same. We shake hands. And then we walk back.

The girl shouts something in Japanese and holds up the yellow flag. Some of the crowd cheer and boo Tara.

She holds up the black flag. I notice there is slightly less cheering, but what do you expect? I wouldn't cheer for a complete stranger. There is a moment of silence, and then the Japanese girl waves both flags rapidly. The fight begins.
Tara hurls rocks at me, and I repel them. I fling lasers at Tara, and she blocks the lasers with vines. Tara can also fly. Great. She has advantage.

Tara screams and throws a huge boulder as hard as she can at me. I have an idea. I fall behind the rock.

There is silence. The Japanese girl holds up the 'T' flag and shouts something in Japanese. Some of the students cheer, but some look down at the ground. Tara walks over to me to see how much damage she has done. This is my chance! I jump from behind the rock and blast her with my lasers. She is taken by surprise and falls unconscious. The Japanese girl holds up my flag energetically. Most of the crowd is now cheering. They come over to me and lift me up on their shoulders and they chant my name over and over again. I am still dizzy with shock. I defeated Tara! The "greatest junior junior supervillain in all of Rocktown".

"But what about Tara? We can't just leave her there!" I shout in protest.

"Oh, she'll wake in a couple of minutes." chirped a girl, as if the matter were no more than discussing the weather.
Suddenly, reality dawned on me when Mr. Roth came running down the corridor with all the other teachers. Oh no. What if I get excluded?

But Mr. Roth seems to have other ideas. "Hold up. You defeated Tara?! But how? Why?!" Mr. Roth stuttered in confusion.

"Umm... I guess she wanted to fight me and I accepted her challenge. Am I breaking the rules?"

"No. You are not breaking the rules. Any students in Greenswood Academy may battle as long as it isn't serious and there are no other injuries than some small bruises and cuts. Anything worse is a detention for both students. Is thar clear, Sunny?" Mr. Roth informed me.

"Yes, sir. " I replied in relief.

"Come here, dear. Come with me, to my office." Said Miss Brown sympathetically.

I followed Miss Brown into her office as the noise of the students died away. What had I done?
