it had been almost two weeks since that facetime call, and a lot had happened.

a romance, had happened.

during this week, jules' friend katie had flown out to la. she had gotten the role of riley - lyric's love interest.

throughout this week of filming, caleb had had his first kiss. he didn't know how to feel about the fact that it was on screen, but he also didn't know how to feel about the fact that it was katie.

even though the show wasn't coming out until two months from now, caleb still hadn't mentioned any of this news to sydney. this whole week he'd been avoiding her facetime calls, most of her texts, and her as a person.

he didn't want to, but he didn't want to tell her this either. so, caleb did what he knew wasn't the best choice, and avoided her.

it was hard. caleb usually called her any chance he could get, even if he was supposed to be practicing lines or doing school. he knew that she had probably noticed this change by now.

caleb sat in his room. he was cleaning it since they were having people over tonight, and his mom had told him to pick it up.

suddenly, the teenager heard a knock at his bedroom door.

"come in," he said, as jules entered his room. she was holding her phone, and it looked like it was on.

"hey, are you avoiding sydney?"

nerves filled his body. "no," he lied, as he put a folded t-shirt into one of his drawers.

"apparently you are," she said, "sydney's worried caleb."

"i've just been busy," caleb muttered, as he put more clothes away.

"we've been home all day, and most of yesterday. plus, you've had plenty of breaks on set, and you call her everyday, on set or not." she implied. caleb knew she was right, and he'd have to tell her what was going on.

"katie." he simply said.

"what about katie?"

"i don't want to tell her about what happened with katie," he sighed.

jules began typing on her phone, "do not tell her that." caleb said - catching on to what she was doing.

"fine," she said. caleb sat on his bed, and she sat next to him.

"why don't you wanna tell her?" jules asked her brother.

"i honestly don't know." caleb answered, "part of me just thinks that she's going to react weird. we don't talk about that stuff."

"yes you do," she laughed.

"how?" caleb said - smirking.

"exuse me," she laughed, "ocean city 2015. you stayed up all night talking about that stuff."

caleb's eyes widened, "you heard?"

"not all of it," she said - she grinned, raising an eyebrow.

"okay," he replied.

"but, from what i did hear," she said, "that you guys did talk about relationships and marriage."

"yeah, but that's different than talking about crushes and kisses and stuff."

jules sighed, "caleb. it was one kiss. syd is not going to get mad about something for a tv show, she knows you better than anyone. besides luke. so, she knows that you wouldn't lie about something like that."

caleb smiled, "thanks jules."

she grabbed her phone and got up, "of course," she left his room.

caleb looked down at the comforter on his bed, "just tell her." her whispered to himself.

caleb grabbed his phone, and found sydney's contact. he hit facetime. sydney answered so fast - it seemed like she had been waiting for him to call at that moment.

"there you are!" she said.

"hey, i gotta tell you something,"

caleb sat at his kitchen island - his hands gripped on a cold sprite from the refrigerator. a bunch of the chicken girls cast was at the apartment, for a celebration party for season 3.

caleb was having lots of fun, he just wished that his two best friends were here with him. not so far away. back in maryland.

katie slid in the seat next to him, "sup caleb," she said. she took his soda and took a sip.

"hey," caleb laughed - knowing that he'd already drank some of it.

"i mean we already kissed anyways," she said, bluntly, "oh, and caleb i don't like you like that," she pointed out - noticing his surprised facial expressions.

"okay," he said, "cause i don't like you like that either," katie slid the soda back to him, and he stopped it from moving any farther with his hand.

he fixed the baseball cap she was wearing, and got up out of her stool. she messed up caleb's hair, and began to walk away, "adios amigo,"

caleb laughed to himself, as his hand soaked into the condensation from the can. he gripped his phone, and flipped it over.

his phone opened to messages with sydney. even though she wasn't angry about the kiss with katie, he felt a weight lift off of his chest since katie had confirmed that she didn't like him.

he typed into his phone, maybe i can convince my mom to see you next week?

sent.

i LOVED writing this chapter. idk why. i love the caleb ans katie moment tbh, it's just funny lol.
