Re-writing Matthew and Aiden break up

DISCLAIMER- I DON'T SHIP MATTHEW AND AIDEN, although it's fine if you do as long as you're not rude about it,  I JUST WANT TO REWRITE THIS STORY LINE AND MAKE IT LESS TOXIC. I'M SORRY IF THIS STORY SEEMS LIKE A MAIDEN SHIPPING STORY

Matthew's POV

"Come on Matt like the picture already. Y'know you want to." Maury said to me.

"I can't believe i'm liking a picture on Andrew Glouberman's Instagram." I said finally giving in.

"Who cares? Jay looks hot in it."

"Maury, Jay does not look hot. I'm just appreciating Jay for the man he is."

"Oh yeah Jay really showed you how much of a man he is back in swim class." Maury growled. I rolled my eyes at the sexual comment. I'm not attracted to Jay. It's not like I just spent 30 minutes waiting to comment and like Jay's newest post on Instagram, so I don't seem like i'm stalking him, and it's not like I spent another 30 minutes wondering what I should comment on said post and it's not like my new hobby is commenting and liking all of Jay's post. Before I can go see if Jay had posted something new on his story, I heard a knock at my door.

"Come in!" I yelled

"Hey babe" A familiar voice said entering my room.

"Aiden! I though you were coming around 5:30." I said, shocked seeing him here.

"It is 5:30."

"Oh shit I guess I loss track of time." I said embarrassed, knowing I was supposed to clean up before he showed up.

Aiden's POV

"-But a good partner would never let him wear that outfit." I said, finishing my story.

"Ha. Funny" Matthew said, deadpan. I felt defeated knowing Matthew wasn't even listening to me. He has become more distant ever since that weird night in our slide. We were making out, he didn't seem into it, but once I brought it to his attention, he got much more wild for like a second then left right after that. One of Matthew's biggest fear is walking alone at night, but he didn't seem to mind that night. My first thought was that he got a boner and left because he was embarrassed, but that wouldn't explained basically ignoring me. 

"Okay babe what on that phone that got you more interested in it then me?" I asked, kinda, jokingly and leaning my face over the end of the bed so we could look at each other.

"What! Nothing! It's just that Jessie added me to a groupchat with all of her friends and Jay is telling me about the time he got into his mom's pills and got so high, he thought he didn't have his left nutsack." Matthew admitted, finally starting to smile.

"God he is so stupid."

"Yeah, but like in a-" he paused abruptly "charming way." I thought Matthew thought Jay was the dumbest kid alive. I didn't want to lose Matthew's attention to his phone again, so I said " I know we said 'no gifts' for our 9 month anniversary, but we both love stuff, so I got you a thing." He opened my gift and I started talking about the photo frame I got him.

"I got you something too, Though I didn't have time to put it in a bag." He said, racing over to his closet.  After a few moment of digging around in his closet, he handed me a black vest. "I just though you would look good in it. Put it on." He said, eagerly.

"Okay wow, I do look pretty good in it." I said as I looked in his mirror.

"Yeah pretty good." Matthew said with a disappointed tone and an even more disappointed face. I decided to leave with my gift after that and the fact Matthew went right back on his phone. I did text my friends to see if any of them could come over and talk to me about this Matthew situation right before I left. Luckily they could.
