The first thing I heard was voices. Some were rough, some were gentle but serious. But I was focusing on a soft one, it was his voice. I just knew it was. I didn't know who he was but that didn't matter. "Losing mother has made you go cold." He sounded upset. "All I'm asking for is a chance to make this right! To secure the future of the entire pack."

"No Sasha! She's  a special!" What on earth is a special? Did he mean my memory loss? "They'll come for her, and when they do the whole pack will be in danger." That was the rough voice, he sounded frustrated, like a tired soldier after too many wars. I tried to move, everything hurt. The noise of a door opening stopped me from moving again. Maybe it was more intelligent to stay still, listen and learn. "Alpha-" a new voice said, it was a guy. He stopped. Then there was a deep threatening growl. I was 100% positive that it was from him, Sasha. "Alpha, who is this girl?" the new voice asked. The man with the soldier voice, apparently the alpha, scoffed. "She's no one, now what news do you have for me about specials?"

I listened closely, this was apparently about me. The new voice started speaking "Sir, they have a special ability. This makes them different from other humans. Their kind is very rare, especially since the vampires have made it their life's work to find all of them and keep their type for themselves." Vampires? The voice went on "No one knows what causes humans to be born with unique powers. It's thought to be a specific gene that some people carry, although it's usually dormant. Either way, when a baby is born with it active, some part of them is affected. Some can walk on walls, some can move faster than anyone alive, and I've even heard of someone who could teleport himself." Well call me crazy but I think I would have noticed if I had any superpowers. I laughed internally. I didn't know where I was, but obviously it was some sort of cult with people who believed in the supernatural. I had to get out of here.

But still the voice wasn't finished. "These powers are all well and good by themselves. They have their uses, but there are other benefits. Until about twenty years ago no one knew these other benefits. My uncle actually ran some experiments and found out that a couple very interesting facts. Facts that immortals find very beneficial." Experiments? Fear clenched in my stomach. The voice paused and seemed to check to see how the room was receiving everything so far. He continued. "First of all, special humans have a very rare blood-type that makes them more desirable to nonhumans. Not necessarily food-wise, but more, um," The voice actually sounded uncomfortable. "sex-wise." He coughed, embarrassed. "My uncle was a little surprised about that, but then he figured out why it was. Specials can breed with nonhumans, particularly vampires. And that's huge. Vampires aren't supposed to be able to have kids. Thankfully this isn't very well known."

There was a long silence after all that information. Then the Alpha spoke again "You see Sasha? You can't keep her, the vampires have already tried to take her... twice!" there was a pause "You have to give her back... Now!" When Sasha didn't speak the Alpha growled. "You are bringing the whole pack in danger for some girl."

Sasha chuckled "But that's just the thing, she isn't just some girl. She's valuable and she's my intended which means she is a part of this pack and that we need to protect her!" I didn't like how he was speaking about me. I wasn't some valuable thing that you could just own and do with what you liked. I was a person. I decided it was time to open my eyes and join in this conversation. "By the Moon Sasha, just think about the Goddess, is this really something you think She would want? Something She would orchestrate to happen?" The alpha tried again.

"I can feel that this is Her doing and Her will." Sasha retorted "If you don't believe me we can ask an oracle to confirm it for you." He ended his sentence in a growl.

I finally opened my eyes, and looked around. There were three men in the room, one with grey hair and ice cold blue eyes. The other two were dark haired one with deep brown eyes and one with dark blue ones. I sat up quickly and pulled the blanket that was on me a little higher. "Hello Nora" the grey Alpha said with cold eyes "My name is Liam. I am Alpha of this pack." He did not look happy that I was here.

I stayed silent and just looked at them. Maybe I had landed in some weird cult or something. Either way, I had to find a way back home. But where was home now?  Alpha Liam looked at Sasha, raising a grey eyebrow before speaking again. "We are wolves, and I am the leader of this pack."Oh dear God, well that answered that one. Definitely some weird cult thing.

At this moment I looked to Sasha, he was extremely handsome. The man from my memory. He had the eyes so blue they were almost purple. His hair was a very dark brown, almost black. I knew those eyes, in wolf form. Was it possible? I looked longer at Sasha and into the eyes that had once belonged to the wolf I had befriended in the meadow. Sasha smiled at me. It seemed impossible, but Sasha had those eyes and he had responded to the name. My staring was interrupted by the last voice that had come into the room.

"Hey Nora" I looked to the guy who had spoken. He had an intense stare that made it hard to look away. "I'm Chester" He nodded at me and gave me a wink.  A deep threatening growl filled the room. Chester quickly stepped away from me and grumbled something about intoductions.

Sasha came and stood next to the sofa that I was currently sat on disabling Chester's view of me. Liam sighed and sat on a chair. "Sasha, she can't be your mate. It's that Special's trick that's influencing you, not to mention it's dangerous to even keep her here."

Sasha turned to Alpha Liam. "Father, all I'm asking for is a chance. Let's see how things turn out. A...trial so to speak." Sasha looked at me "If it doesn't work then we will leave." I cringed at the eruption of anger that came from Alpha Liam "You are the future of this pack! You are going nowhere!" I didn't know what to say. I felt like this was an issue that I couldn't really participate anything logical to. What I was understanding however was that Sasha was supposed to be leading the pack soon. And he was giving that up, to be with me. I was so confused, why would he do that? We didn't even know each other.

"The pack is strong, strong enough to protect everyone here." Sasha spat at his father. I cringed knowing that by everyone he meant me.

Liam swallowed. "Fine." He snorted. "On a trial basis she will stay here. If I or the beta feel that we cannot protect her properly here she will go..." He looked at Sasha "And you will stay."

Sasha gave his father a cold, hard look. "We are strong enough."
