Candice
I needed to sit for a second but I couldn’t. I called over Rey, whom was suppose to be here five minutes ago but I guess she decided to delay. Most likely on her damn couch stuffing her fat ass with potato chips. I decided to call her back one last time, until my phone rang.
“Hello?” I greeted with a huge smirk, not caring who was on the line.
“Mmm, see you haven’t lost your sexy phone voice.” A familiar male voice said. I froze.
“Who is this?” My smile faded and my face dropped when it finally hit.
“Aw Sweet Candy, don’t act like you don’t know.” My body didn’t even flinch. I couldn’t tell if it was out of fear, or the fact that I was pissed. I hadn’t spoken yet and heard a deep sigh on the callers end.
“I know! Shocker, me calling you. I just wanted you to know that I’ve changed baby. I’ve missed you so much that it hurts and if I have to go another day without you, then I am not going to be a very happy.” His words sounded controlled and demanding, yet calm and mellow. I still couldn’t bring my self to talk. It hadn’t dawned on me, how the hell he got my number but I wasn’t about to show that fear either. I had to be strong!
“Tristan, what the fuck do you want from my life…Prison apparently hasn’t made you any saner.” I swallowed hard, fighting the urge to break down into tears. “I do not wish to speak with you. I need to go.”
Just when I was on the brink of hanging up, he spoke something that I wished to never ever hear from his voice ever again.
“Baby, I love you! I know I’ve done some bullshit in the past but I promise, I mean you no harm. You have to believe, Louis was an accident.”
And then he did it. He struck the nerve and I gave in. I collapsed to the ground and sobbed wildly. I prayed that this day would never come… talking to the enemy. The guy I thought I loved, who stole my sense of security. The phone slipped out of my hand as I leaned against my bed and covered my face. This was the beginning of a horrible weekend and I knew exactly what would happen. The sound of my door creaked open meanwhile, I went on sobbing.
I suddenly felt arms encircle me and warmth covered my body. The familiar scent of Juicy Couture perfume filled my nose and my body began to ache.
“What’s wrong babe?” Rey spoke in a soothing voice, like a mother consoling an upset child. “Candy talk to me.” More cries, “Candy!” Her voice rose every time she said my name. My eyes must’ve been red and I swollen by now. I slowly lifted my head to face Rey.
“Oh my goodness, look at your face, you’re as red as a tomato.” She immediately jumped up and ran to my Kleenex box and swiped a few tissues. She trotted back and handed it to me all bunched and crumpled. I snatched it and crammed them all at my nose. Rey sat next to me and placed her arms around me. She took a deep breath.
“We need to talk this out.” She softly whispered in my ear. I leaned my heading, knowingly.
