The day before Tobi and Deidara were sent off to retrieve a scroll with information about the whereaboutsof the Sanbi. it had been a long and tideous process, especially with tobi's gruesome help. Deidara didn't quite know where this was leading or what the organization was planning. He had tried to ask some of the other members about it but they either didn't know or wouldn't tell, which had the same outcome. Zetsu particulary had seemed like he didn't want to trust him with the information. It angered Deidara. He didn't suppose pressing the leader about it was a good idea though, Pain wasn't one to be tempered with. Deidara didn't care about the Akatsuki or their plans anyway. He wasn't there because he wanted to, he had been forced into the organization by Itachi.- Itachi Uchiha wiith the sharingan. Although Deidara hated him, he respected his powers. That being sais, he despised the man's arrogance and his neglect of Deidaras powers. Deidara would teach him to admire his art, and when itachi's life ended, it would end in a bang. That's how everything would end, afterall.Until then, the akatsuki would help him improve as a Shinobi. As much as he didn't like to admit it, he wasn't yet powerfull enough to tackle the Uchiha.
Sighting, deidara now lay in is bed after a long day, staring up at the dark wall. No light breeze shuffled through his hair or cloak, the base had no windows. The room he shared with Tobi was enlightenedby a candle, light dancing over the stony walls. They were the only ones present in this base, as the other members were fullfulling their own missions in other parts of the shinobi land. their own mission had been bothersome, Tobi had been annoying him all day. He seemed to mean well though. Where was Tobi, anyway? The blonde didn't know, he was glad to enjoy his peace and quit once in a while. Although sometimes, ( only when he was bored of course!!! ) he enjoyed Tobi's company. Deidara felt a light draft shuffling through his hair, curiously averting his gaze. Tobi, loud as ever had opened the door and was now skipping towards Deidaras bed, discarding his own. Deidara liftet his head, mood shifting in an instance. he wanted to be alone now. "What are you doing Senpai?", asked Tobi, sounding exited. Deidara drew breath to retard but (once again) got interrupted by Tobi; "Ooh look Senpai, you got a leaf in your hair!" exclaimed Tobi, pointing at Deidara's golden locks. Deidara didn't care, he kept staring at Tobi with an off-hand look on his face. Tobi leaned towarts him until their faces were only a foot apart. Due to their close proximity and the candle standing on the nightstand, deidara could now see a speck of light in -what appeared to be- Tobi's eye. Tobi now turned his head in a questioning gesture, the speck disappearing. Deidara was sure the man was now smiling at him, like he- judging by his personality, often did. Deidara frowned, the gesture made him feel interrogated.
" Have you been thinking?", Tobi inquired, Deidara's feeling of interrogation increasing. Tobi sneaked onto the bed sitting down besides Deidara, once again displaying his lack of understanding personal space. Tobi turned to face deidara, supporting his weight on one arm. He chose to busy himself by pulling the leafs out of deidara's hair rather clumsily. " What are you talking about tobi, un? And stop pulling my hair!", he barked, not looking at Tobi. " UH-oh Tobi's sorry , Senpai!". Deidara looked at the floor again meanwhile tobi continued his work gently, his hand sliding through Deidara's golden-blonde hair. " It's okay senpai, you don't have to tell", Tobi lowered his head, speaking rather quitly this time; " Tobi wouldn't either"
The blonde furrowed his eyebrows, turning his head, he didn't want to inquire though as tobbi seemed to be in thought. After a slight pause, Tobi went on in stroking Deidara's now leaf-free hair with his gloved, longfingered hands. ( Deidara had always taken a liking to them as they reminded him a bit of his beloved clay spiders). It was an odd moment but deidara supposed Tobi had always been a bit odd overall. From his shrill, childlike voice to his orange mask reasembling a spiral einding i a seemingly endless black hole. His powers and past were just as incomprehensible. deidara sometimes asked himself how his partner could even see when he himself sometimes had trouble with one eye and his long, blonde haair swaying in the wind. Maybe this was the source of Tobi's clumsyness, Deidara concluded, grinning sheepishly. the blonde had always been curious about the mask, he supposed it was natural with the thing being quite prominent. It was true, many Shinobi hid their face to avoid recognition, but he couldn't see Tobi doing it. But then, there had to be a reason tobi got accepted into the akaatsuki afterall. It had always been a riddle to deidara.
tobi didn't seem to posess any powers at all. Except Tobi, every member had special abillities going for them. In contrast, tobi seemed like some hyperactive kid which wouldn't quite fit in with the rest of the organization. maybe Tobi posessed some kind of unique one-way thing which would end his life kinda like the jinchuuriki died after their tailed beasts were extracted. deidara found himself not wanting to think about it further.
It caused him quite a painfull stab in the chest. He had come to trust tobi quite a bit. At least the latter seemed to kinda like and respect Deidara in some way.
