Oh, shit. I'm going to be late. Again. Carlos said my pay would be reduced if I'm late again.

I grabbed my charcoal Stanley and dashed out the door, nearly taking the front door out of it's frame when I slammed it shut.

I hobbled across my pebbled driveway to my freshly washed, red Nissan, clicking my keys rapidly until my car unlocked. I yanked the door open, hitting my hip. Fuck, I thought, that's going to leave a bruise.

I ignored the small throb in my waist and threw myself into the seat, tossing the car forcefully into reverse.

As I pulled up in front of Timely Tattoos, I checked my watch. 4:54. I was early for once.

I hopped out of the car, grabbed my stuff, and locked the doors, double-checking to make sure it was fully locked before heading inside.

"Vida, is that you? Are you actually early for once?"

I rolled my eyes, "Don't sound so surprised."

"You make it hard not to," he appeared from the back room, smiling.

"Shut up," I said, playfully punching his arm as I brushed past him to put my stuff in my locker.

I heard the deep chime of the bell ring as the door swung open and Carlos's voice as he called, "Come on, Vi, your canvas awaits you!" I heard two people chuckling.

I slid the curtain open and my jaw nearly dropped when I saw the two people standing with Carlos. They were gorgeous, like, Greek god and goddess gorgeous. There was a boy and a girl- a couple, I guessed- most likely late teens. They were both tan, tall, lean, muscular, fierce, and had light scars over their bodies- but that was where their similarities ended.

The girl had forehead wrinkles from stress, curly, immaculate, honey blond hair, and these calculating, beautiful grey eyes that looked like they could see any bullshit you might have. She was wearing a navy sweatshirt that read 'not in the mood', and a pair of black shorts.

The boy on the other hand had messy, raven black hair, sea-green eyes, and a small smile etched into his face. He had on a light-weight jacket and a pair of basketball shorts.

Say something, my mind yelled. "Hello, how are you guys today?"

"Fine," they said in unison. They glanced at each other and started cracking up. The girl elbowed the boy lightly in the stomach.

"Uh, we wanted to get tattoos," the boy- Percy, if the name embroidered on the front of his swim jacket was correct- said.

The girl shook her head, "No, duh, Seaweed Brain." Weird nickname.

"Oh, right. sorry-" He blushed bright red.

"It's alright. I need to see some ID, though."

"Of course!" The girl- Annabeth, it said on her ID- handed two cards over. "Percy tends to lose things, so I tend to hold them for him. She smiles fondly at him as he let out an offended, "Hey!"

I lead them over to a chair in the corner. "Do you have a design in mind?"

Annabeth responded, "We're actually looking at quotes."

"Oh, nice. What were you thinking? I'd love to hear the story behind them, too, if you wouldn't mind sharing." I have a small journal in my bag that I fill with tattoos people have gotten and their meaning behind them.

Annabeth happily answered, "Actually, It was kind of a dare. We were playing Truth or Dare: Couples Edition and this idiot decided to pick dare when our friend Leo asked. He sad we should get a tattoo. We came in here to finally complete the dare. Of course, Percy wanted to get it done quickly and nearly got a Nemo tattoo on his arm, but I knocked some sense into him." Percy was about to argue, but Annabeth continued, " We decided to get tattoos based off of one of the greatest battles we've shared. (The tattoos are based off the knife Annabeth took for Percy in the Battle of Manhattan.) I was thinking of getting one over the scar on my shoulder that says, 'I protect you, you protect me. We have each other. That's what matters.'"

I wrote down the quote hurriedly on a piece of scrap paper. Then, I looked towards Percy and asked, "So, other than the Nemo tattoo, what would you like?"

Percy, still red in the face, slowly turned around, lifted his shirt, and pointed to a small spot on his back. "I wanted, 'I showed you my weakness, and you made it my strength.'"

Annabeth gasped quietly. I guess she didn't know exactly what Percy wanted. A tear slipped from her eyes. I don't know what they went through, but I know this meant a lot to both of them. I tried my best to remember everything they said so I could write it down later.

"Okay," I said, facing both of them, pulling out a book from under a counter. "Would you like to start looking at fonts?"

They took the book from my hand, each one holding  one side. They muttered to each other, flipping slowly through the pages. Percy looked up after about five minutes of searching and said, "I'll do the Jumble font because it's beautiful, just like my Wise Girl over here." Annabeth blushed lightly, kissing him on the cheek. Seaweed Brain and Wise Girl, another thing to write down in my journal.

"I'll take the same font, it wouldn't be a couple's tattoo without matching fonts. I'll also go first, I need to seem braver than Percy. Though, I say Percy is a bit braver than me." She whispered that last part, winking at me.

I gestured to the chair and she sat down, taking one of her arms out of sweatshirt sleeves, revealing a tank top she had on under. I got my antiseptic to clean her skin and noticed a scar on the skin. It must be the one she mentioned.

"This may sting a bit," I warned. I knew she could take it though.

She nodded and I began.

She flinched when the needle first touched her skin. Percy laughed, I chuckled.

"Who's not so brave now?" Percy taunted.

When both were done with their tattoos, they gave me a generous tip and went on their way.

And that is how I meant Percabeth.
