Lan Wangji knew something was off.

It has been weeks since they have made love. His husband claimed that he was too tired to do it. At first, he brushed it off as a one-time thing but now... It's every night.

What's worse was that his husband was tired, he was not making up lies at all. At the end of the night, he would stumble into the Jingshi and crash into the bed. Almost as if he could no longer support his own body.

It was now the third week since they have done it and as usual, Wei Wuxian stumbled into the Jingshi, simply exhausted.

"Wei Ying"

"Not today Lan Zhan, I'm much too tired"

Wei Wuxian is sick.

When he was first summoned into Mo Xuanyu's body, he could tell that this young cultivator had a weak golden core and figured that perhaps if he cultivated himself, he would be able to gain back the level of cultivation he had before he passed.

But he couldn't.

Every time he tried to cultivate, it failed as each session resulted in throwing up blood.

Eventually, he stopped trying and figured that living as a normal human would be okay. The weak golden core would slightly stop him from ageing for a certain amount of time but eventually, he would gain grey hairs and wrinkles. It was just a matter of when that would happen.

But now, he had caught something and with each passing day, Wei Wuxian had to pray to the gods to let him live another day.

"Wei Ying, what is going on?"

Lan Zhan had been concerned for him before but this was the first time -in a long time- that he had sounded scared.

He was scared for his husband.

"I'm just tired, Lan Zhan"

"The truth"

Wei Wuxian couldn't bring up the truth.

Whatever it was he caught, it wouldn't go away, it seemed to worsen. He tried every remedy available to help him, he even snuck into the healer's den to get whatever medicine could hopefully fight this sickness away.

There were nights where he'd wake up suffocating, trying to grasp for oxygen as his lungs closed on him.

There were nights where he would cough out the blood that would drown him if he didn't.

There were nights where he had to get his blood flowing to certain parts of his body for they become immobile.

All those nights he prayed and prayed to get better, to get rid of whatever was infecting him.

He prayed that his husband would never find out.

He passed out leaving his husband to wonder what was wrong.

'How can I fix this

Thankfully Wei Wuxian lived to see another day, and it was a rare day too for, throughout the night, he did not wake up trying to expel or fix his body, he was safe in the arms of his husbands.

Cared and loved for.

He was going to miss this dearly.

Withholding a groan, he got ready for the day. Thankfully his loving husband always undressed him the night before and put him in his own (much bigger) robes so that Wei Wuxian was comfortable when he slept.

By the time he had finished putting on his own red inner robes, Wei Wuxian had collapsed to the ground.

'Am I so weak that I can no longer put on my robes?'
