FRIEND

5. A Familiar Friend

Friend sat in his shed, alone. Two days passed since Young Friend left. He was sad, he lost the only friend he had...

But that doesn't stop him! Friend stands up and stretches, his limbs groan as he stretches. He walks out of the shed and looks around, the sun searing his eyes. I will hunt. Friend thinks A good meal will do me well! 

Friend walks towards the forest, but stops. He listens closely and hears ruckus coming from the forest. Leaves crunching  and twigs snapping. Birds cawing and flying away. 

Friend gets scared and decides to hide. Below the dock! No one will suspect him there! Friend sprints towards the shore. He takes a step and, yup, the water stays still. Soon Friend is on the water and crawling under the dock. 

The noises from the forest stop, but now he can only hear paw steps! Not heavy ones, small ones. But still he hides.

The paw steps fade, but come back. They get louder and louder and soon he can hear the wood creak above him. 

"Hello?" A voice shouts "Is anyone there?" 

The voice almost seems... familiar to Friend. The paw steps stop, and so does the shouting. The wood creaks louder and louder, when suddenly! 

A little kitten head pops underneath the dock. The kitten has brown fur and a pink, bruised nose. Grey tips to his pointy ears and green eyes. 

Young Friend! 

"WOAH Friend! how are you standing on the water like that?!" Young Friend asks

Friend quickly scrambles out from under the dock and stands in front of Young Friend. "What are you doing here?!" Friend asks, shocked

"I missed you! Its so boring at that town, its like if grey had a personality!" Young Friend meows "But you! You are not boring at all! Hey can you teach me how to stand on the water too!? It looks fun!"

Friend looks at the kitten, stunned from shock. "How did you- how do you keep on leaving without them noticing?!" 

"They just, don't.... care...." Young Friend mumbles, his tail droops and his ears swivel back. "That's also why I came, you actually care about me! Plus I will go back! I promise!"  

Friend thinks for a bit, but decides Young Friend can stay, just a little longer.
