Chapter 06

                  [Wednesday, After Practice]
   "Hey, Isaac." Addy said as Isaac came up to her.

"Hi." Isaac greeted her back. "How did Addy do today?" Isaac asked, slightly surprising Addy that he even asked.

"I did a pretty good hit!" Addy beamed. Isaac gave her a small genuine smile.

"Isaac is proud." Isaac told her.

"How did Isaac do?" Addy questioned him this time.

"Isaac did good, but could've done better. Other cornerback is better." Isaac explained to her.

"Oh, yeah, there's two cornerbacks, right?" Addy asked.

"Well, there are two sophomore corners, this other guy and Isaac, then there is one junior corner and one senior corner." Isaac further explained.

"Why so many cornerbacks?" Addy thought out loud.

"Back up, for emergency. Isaac thinks that he will be backup cornerback for this season though, but other sophomore might be a starter because he's too good." Isaac told her, a slight hint of disappointment in his usually monotonous voice.

"Isaac."

"That is Isaac's name." Isaac turned around to see another boy around the same height as him. The other boy had curly black hair and had pretty greyish-blue eyes with a hint of admiration.

"You're good." He told Isaac.

"Not going to lie, Isaac thinks you are better." Isaac replied.

"Thanks...?" The other boy said with slight confusion at Isaac's way of speaking.

"Isaac thinks that you will be starter this season." Isaac told him, genuinely trying to be nice, but his monotonous voice not really coming off as nice, but as jealous.

"Hmm, maybe." The other boy thought. "But no need to be jealous,not everyone is as good." He told Isaac.

"Hey, he is good!" Addy blurted out, standing up for Isaac.

"What? I-I am not jealous." Isaac said with slight difficulty in having to change his voice.

"Okay then..." The other boy sighed, leaving. Addy quickly looked back at Isaac as he looked disappointed in himself.

"Don't be mad." A voice came from behind them. They turned around to see Ezra. "That's Rin, the other cornerback." Ezra explained to Addy. "Isaac, he has a tendency to be a bit cocky sometimes, but really he's actually pretty chill. It's just how you came off to him as jealous that caused him to act like that." Ezra told Isaac.

"Oh." Isaac muttered. "Isaac meant no harm or harsh feelings. Should Isaac go apologize?" Isaac asked.

"Nah, he'll get over it." Ezra replied.

"Is Rin really as good as he seems?" Addy asked.

"Hell yeah. Even the senior varsity cornerback was scared of his skill." Ezra answered. "He's super aggressive and extremely fast. He's great at reading the opposing wide receiver and can easily knock down the ball straight from their hands and good at interceptions. Yeah, he's basically a beast."

"Damn, atleast he'll be a great asset to the team." Addy said, trying to look on the bright side. Ezra gave her a nod of agreement.

"Isaac still feels bad though." Isaac said.

"If you want I could go talk to him, I'm sort of friends with him." Ezra offered.

"You are?" Addy accidentally blurted out in disbelief.
