since i have never shared my opinion on the matter, here it is: the reason i am atheist is because i believe in science. i believe that man wrote the bible to explain things that they could not explain. it gave them a sense of hope and gives all 'followers' today hope. We are decomposing matter. one man did not create the human race- or the start of it aka. 'Adam and Eve'. Earth, the planet in which we live, contains all the essential things that humans and living species need to sustain life. (water, oxygen, AN ATMOSPHERE). praying, in my opinion, is a way of comfort, a way of trying to help the things that are ultimately inevitable. to me, life has a wave, and you're going to go with the flow whether you like it or not. i believe in evolution i guess you could say. we evolved from living cells that inhabited earth millions/billions of years ago. People say we evolved from apes only because they are the closest to humans. the reason humans are they way we are today is due to lifestyle of neanderthal over time. during human evolution, our forebrain became larger as our cerebral cortex increased in size. humans have a larger cerebral cortex relative to the rest of the brain than any other animal. The cerebral cortex handles many of our unique skills, like language and problem solving. we are STILL evolving today; for example, people are being born with less wisdom teeth, organs made to digest food and nutrients for OUR time. so if you want to believe in God and say that he created life as we know it, then do with that what you will. i support someones religion if it makes them happy but i will not follow. and after you read this, look up at the sky and realize that each tiny spot you see could be another planet, a star, a galaxy. millions upon millions exist and if you think that we are the only ones out here, you're wrong. I'm not saying that people shouldn't believe in god because i do think people need something when life seems hopeless. that is just my opinion.
