SID and I walk towards the school, laughing about some kid we saw earlier. Sidney stops in her tracks and I look up to see none other than Gale Weathers staring at her camera.

"The small town of Woodsboro, North Carolina was devastated last night when two young teenagers were found brutally butchered Authorities have yet to issue a statement but our sources tell us that no arrest has been made and the murderer could strike again."

I could tell Sidney was slightly uncomfortable in the presence of Gale.

"She looks like a washed-up highlighter," I say and Sidney chuckles but she still looks tense. I then notice that it's not just Gale but other news reporters all around the school.

"Do you believe this shit?" Sidney jumps at the sudden voice of our friend Tatum.

"What happened?" I ask and Tatum looks at me with wide eyes.

"Oh, God! You don't know?" Sidney and I shake our heads. "Casey Becker and Steve Orth were killed last night."

"No way," Sidney says as my eyes were wide.

"And not just killed, were talking splatter movie killed. Split open from end to end."

"Casey Becker? She sits next to me in English."

"Not anymore," I say and Tatum nods her head.

"Her parents found her hanging from a tree. Her insides on the outside." I shiver at her sentence. Who would do that to some random teenagers?

"Do they know who did it?" I ask.

"Fucking clueless-they're interrogating the entire school. Teachers, students, staff, janitors."

"They think it's school-related?" Sidney asks.

"They don't know. Dewey said this is the worst crime they've ever seen. Even worse than...." Stopping herself, she shook her head. "Well, it's bad."

"You may partner up with the person sitting behind you. Talk about the answers and write a paragraph by tomorrow." I turn and see Billy sitting behind me. Nice, my sister's weird boyfriend.

"I'm gonna be honest with you. I didn't do the homework so let's just say I did and we can use your answers in the paragraph." He says. I roll my eyes.

"Why don't you focus on your work instead of trying to screw my sister all the time?" Billy looks at me with a smirk.

"Rosemary, it's your turn, hun." Mrs. Francis says. I nod and turn back to Billy grabbing my backpack.

"Here are my answers, when I come back I want at least two good sentences."

"Yes, Ma'am." He says as he grabs the sheet from my hands. I smile and walk towards the door and to the main office.

I walk into Principal Himbrys office and everyone looked at me, everyone being Principal Himbry, Dewey, and Sheriff Burke.

"Hi, Rosemary." Sheriff Burke starts. I nod at him.

"Sheriff Burke, Deputy Riley," I say knowing when Deweys on duty he likes to be professional. Dewey smiles when I say it too.

"How is everything?" Sheriff Burke asks.

"Good."

"And your Dad and Sidney? We haven't gotten to her yet, how are they doing?

"They're fine, thanks."

"We'll be brief, Rosemary. The police have a few questions they'd like to ask you." I nod. "Where were you last night?"

"I was at home."
