ROSEMARY

"You suck at this." laughed a young Billy Loomis.

"What are you talking about? We've hit the same amount of cans, dipwad." I say.

"You both suck." young Stu Macher chimes in. Billy and I blow a raspberry at Stu.

As we continue to throw rocks at cans we hear rustling in the distance. We turn to see a man about to knock on the young Prescott girl's front door.

"My parents aren't here," I say to the man. He looks at me and nods. He looks as though he was about to ask another question so I beat him to it. "I don't know when they will be back, they took my sister Sidney with them if you were wondering."

"You seem to have a lot of answers."

"You seem to have a lot of questions." The man smirks.

"What's your mom's name?"

"Maureen, why?" Billy had looked between me and the man and said,

"Wait, you too look kinda similar." Stu looks at me then at the man.

"Holy shit you do. What's your name man?" Stu asks.

"Roman, what're your names?"

"I'm Stu, he's billy, and the girl is Rosemary." I slap Stu's arm. He rubs his arm and looks at me confused. "Ow, what was that for?"

"Why would you tell him our names. He could be a kidnapper." Stu looks at me lazily.

"Didn't you just tell him your parents weren't home? If he wanted to take us I think he would have done it by now." Billy laughs and so does Roman. I roll my eyes.

"Okay, whatever. What do you want?" I say as I look at Roman.

"I'm your brother." 

I stare blankly at him. Billy and Stu stand with their mouths hanging open. 

"Your mom had me and then left. So I came to find her to see if she'd want me back."

"How do I know you are telling the truth?" Roman smiled and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a folded photo and handed it to me. I unfolded it and it was a picture of what looked to be my mother only younger.

 I stared at the picture until I heard a scream and car doors swinging open.

"Rose, boys, get inside!" I look up to see my parents and Sidney looking terrified. My dad ran up to us and grabbed me and the boys by our arms and pulled us inside.

"Kids, go in the kitchen, I think there are some cookies, go help yourselves." Billy, Sidney, and Stu all rushed into the kitchen. I went and stood by the window, it was cracked open so I could hear everything Roman and my mother were saying. 

"I'm sorry I only have 2 daughters. I've never had any other kids."

"Heres my birth certificate," Roman says giving her the paper.

"That not me, that says Reena Reynolds. My name is Maureen Prescott."

"Maureen you and I both know that's you."

"Leave or I'll call the cops." My mom said in a cold voice. Romans face dropped and my mom let the birth certificate fall to the ground as she walked inside. 

Roman looked devastated as he picked up the paper. 

My mom walked into the kitchen with everyone else and I hurried and ran outside.

Roman was walking away when I stopped him.

"Roman!"

"Yeah."

"I believe you." He smiled.

"Thanks, kid."

"Dairy Queen." Roman looked confused.

"Dairy Queen, tomorrow at 4 pm." I smile give him a hug. "I wanna get to know my big brother." Roman hugs back and nods.

We pull away and he waves goodbye.

I wave back and walk inside.
