_________________________India Arie's "Brownskin" blared through the speakers as Gray and Bria came back from shopping at Roosevelt Field. Gray had more than enough gear and Bria for damn sure was laid out good. She wanted to catch a few sales for her mother and son. But ended up spending $2500 on her son and $2200 on her mom. Bria walked alongside her holding her $1500 worth of merchandise.
Picking up a few things to send to her boy Preach, Gray called it a day. "I'm tired as fuck!"
Bria yawned as she slid into the passenger seat.
"You need to get yo ass over here and drive. I'm tired of playing 'driving Miss Daisy'. Every time we go out, I can't enjoy myself 'cause I have to drive, while yo ass on the side fucked up & drunk 'n shit."
"You know i'ont like driving Gray", Bria said. Bria was scared to get behind a wheel again, mainly because she almost drove into her ex-boyfriend's crib because she thought he was cheating on her. Gray sucked her teeth and backed out of the parking lot. Soon they were on the expressway in their own thoughts, Bria thinking about why Diamond hadn't hit her up all day, and Gray mentally counting her money. When the girls pulled up in the hood around Bria's way, the block was packed. It wasn't even a good month out of the winter, but the weather was nice and that was enough for the hood to be out. Niggas walking around in their fly kicks and Moncler puffer coats, girls in their cropped puffers, fresh wraps and long weave. Never been the type to hang out, Gray abated today and decided to hang around the hood for a little while, nothing much to do at her spot anyways.
A neighborhood shorty by the name Rah said, "Gray, spot me a buck fiddy for some Henny bottles and a chopped cheese."
Gray pulled out $150 and gave it to him. "Whatever change Poom give you bring my shit back boy."
"Yeah, aight" he said, waving her off, knowing Fray really didn't give a fuck.
Bria was off to the side talking to a couple guys that worked with Diamond, probably stressing them out about where he was. Gray shook her head and rolled her eyes, turning on Benny the Butcher's latest song.
Soon the block was even more crowded, and a few guys she grew up with sat in her truck to roll up their weed and drink their drink without getting pinned up by the jakes. Gray, chill as ever, just leaned against the hood of her truck with her arms folded, observing everything.
Diamond appeared out of thin air. When he seen Bria he rolled his eyes and waved her off, walking up to Gray and gave her a big hug. Diamond was like her big brother and was Jade's uncle and godfather. "Sup, rich lady?"
"Hey D, where the misses?"
Diamond looked around, not seeing Yumi. "She somewhere out here with her hoe ass friends", the two laughed.
"But fuck me, when you think you gon' stop blowing up? You getting too big for a nigga. Soon it ain't gon' be safe mama."
She knew Diamond was never the hating type, so whenever he popped up asking questions like that it was for her own protection. Mainly, because she was getting money just like the niggas, just better at doing it.
"When yo ass gon' stop drankin' that drank, that belly ain't cute."
"My girl love it", he laughed, rubbing his slightly plump belly.
"Who? Bri?" Gray laughed
"Man she better gon', she know wifey out here, so....."
"Oh shit," Gray said, knowing Bria and Yumi's history.
