After slaving over a hot stove, Gray was finally done with breakfast. She cooked up some sausage, turkey bacon, scrambled egg whites, French toast, Mickey Mouse pancakes & a nice fruit bowl. Donovan and the boys met at the island at the same time. "Good morning young men", she said with a smile. She amazed herself how well she slept after seeing someone lifeless. Sometimes she considered herself to be cold hearted.

"It smell good as hell in here", Donovan said rubbing his hands together.
"Please don't curse in front of them", she gave him her signature puppy dog eyes.
"I'm sorry. Is it okay for me to make me and ya mama a plate?"
"Yeah, go head."
Gray fixed the boys a plate and sat them down. "Thank youuu", the two said in unison. She fixed herself a plate and down to eat. Donovan took his plate to Phoenix's bedroom and shut the door.

Bzzzzzzz! Bzzzzz! Bzzzzzz!

"Mommy your phone is ringing."
Gray jumped up to see Amir's name. "Good morning, calling to have my new friend back so fast", she smiled.
"Uhh, wassup ma? His mama here to see em so yeah. I didn't want to be rude and do this to' em but shorty trippin."
"It's cool, I'll bring him. He's almost finished eating."
"No, you gon' bring my baby back now bitch!" She could hear a woman in the background.
"Chill that hot shit out for real."
"Nah cause you letting some random ass bitch get my son! Nigga is you trippin?"
"Last time I checked I got custody of Kyser and he went on a play date. I just let him stay."
"So you fucking the bitch too?"

Gray was so far over their conversation and hung up the phone. "Was that my dad?"
"Mhmm."
"I'm not ready to go home yet. I like it here." He wrapped his free arm around Jade's neck. She could finally see the resemblance and it was uncanny. "I tell you what. You be good this whole week and I'll come get you a day early."
"Cooooollll."

Gray got the boys freshened up and dressed, she cleaned her moms apartment back up and headed out. Leaving a nice note behind. She strapped the boys into their seatbelts then took off. "Did you have fun Kyser?"
"Yes."
"Well next weekend you choose what we do, okay?"
"Can we do laser tag?"
"If that's what you want."
"Mommy yessss", Jade cooed.
"Laser tagging it is."

Amir didn't stay too far from her mother and she was relieved because today was a busy day. She called him back to let her know she was outside.
Amir and a brown skinned woman who stood about 5 foot 5, stood on the stoops with her arms folded. Her windows were tinted so no one could see anything inside but she could see everything. Gray jumped out her truck, grabbing Kyser's things then grabbed a hold of his tiny hand. "See you later Ky", she gave him a hug.
"Okay. Don't forget okay?" His eyes became big and glossy.
"Okay, pinky promise."
"Pinky promise?" He was confused. Gray took her pinky finger and locked it in with his, telling him what it meant.

She handed Amir his bags. "Thank you, this meant a lot to Jade. They had fun and he got plans for next weekend so don't fill up the lil man schedule", she laughed. Amir smiled. He was taking a liking to her.
"Ima make sure he's more than prepared to go. Thank you."
"You're welcome."

His baby mother noticed how cozy he was getting with her and decided to interrupt.
"What you mean next weekend? He good, he going with me anyways."
"Noooooo daddy", Kyser began to cry. It was as if though his mother was trying to force her way in, but seven years ago she dropped Kyser off at Amir's mother house with nothing, no name, birth certificate, nothing. It was as if she never had a child.
"Aaliyah chill out for real."
"Chill for what? He mines!"
"I ain't doing this crazy shit with you today, aight?"
