The Mirror Fright

Over the next few weeks, there was a significant change in Kriana's behaviour. She always felt someone was following her all the time and was keeping an eye on her. She was quite a sincere person but those days she spent most of her time sleeping. Going to bed around 7 pm and waking up after 10 am was giving everyone else in the house an uncomfortable feel. Eleanor, who used to play a game with Kriana every day before sleeping, stopped visiting her room at all.

Kriana woke up on a sunny day and was getting ready. When she approached the mirror to comb her hair, she saw someone else in the mirror. She leapt with astonishment and fright. She wiped her face with the towel and looked into it again. Thankfully, it was no longer there.

"What was that? I couldn't have dreamed it. Whose face was that? I have seen it somewhere.. somewhere... Where?", thought Kriana. She scratched her head the whole day and night but couldn't figure it out. It was bothering her too much, especially the fact that she knew that person.

She could no longer contain herself that she took to her last resort. A part of her didn't want that but a part of her decisively wanted that. So in the evening, she went down to the family room where Aunt Amelia and Uncle William were sipping a cup of coffee and enjoying their favourite Television show, 'Alice's last day'.

"Hello dear", Aunt Amelia greeted Kriana, "You want anything from us? Why are you here now?"

"Yes, Aunty. I had to ask you something", Kriana replied softly looking at Uncle William who was staring at the TV screen counting down for the advertisement to be over.

Aunt Amelia's curious look gave Kriana the signal to continue.

"So do you know someone with dark brown eyes, bushy hair, and a sharp nose? Most probably that person was a girl. Do you know anyone? Like that person might be dead too", Kriana gave as many details as she could give. Uncle William turned towards Kriana and was thinking.

In a very obvious tone, Uncle William started, "Yes dear. Of course I know her. She is your-".

Aunt Amelia gasped, which made Uncle William stop and realise something. Her eyes had a fright.

He was about to say how the person was related to Kriana but was stopped by Aunt Amelia who was wearing a very horrified look, and then said, "Er- where did you see this person and why are you asking me this?

"I saw her somewhere. Please tell me Uncle who she is. Please. I request you."

"No dear, not today. Go to sleep today, will tell you sometime in near future."

Aunt Amelia wondered why Kriana was asking her about this person and where had she seen her that she replied with a "somewhere".

Kriana got the feel of another sleepless night.
