War Zone // Peter Dawson

5. The Oil

"Dad, there's men in the water!" Peter yelled over to his father, pointing.

Mr Dawson looks ahead to where his son was pointing then he puts the throttle forward, heading into the fray.

 Collins spots Spitfire 1 arcing around, trying to get a beadon the Heinkel and Finley spots the same thing but she keeps quiet most of the time

"Come on, Farrier" Collins said quietly to himself 

  Collins watches Farrier spin around going after the Heinkel, Moonstone comes up on the men in the water, Just then Collinscomes to the side, to help Peter fish the men in the sea out while Finley is also helping them too. 

Collins looks at the surface of the water as he turns his head in Mr Dawson's direction "Oil, we're getting into oil" He yelled over to Mr Dawson.

 Mr Dawson puts the screw into reverse while Collins, Peter and Finley started pulling men out of the water, anonymous in their glossy black filth. 

Peter, Collins, Finley and the oil-covered men pull more oilymen from the water, the decks of the yacht rapidly filling with survivors 

Mr Dawson looks at the oily soldiers concerned then he addressesthe oily survivors to go below deck. 

"Below deck" Mr Dawson said but one of them responded by saying 'No fear'

"We need to get as many of you onboard as we can before the oil catchesfire- get below or get off my boat, your choice" Mr Dawson said before turning his head to pay attention to the sea ahead.

 The oily survivors headed below deck, Finley runs back to thecompanionway to shout down "Careful there" She yelled slightly because her brother was down there, sleeping 

Peter hears her yelling and looks over to where she was going

She then spoke again as the soldiers were carefully moving his body to the side to make space for them "Careful!" she yelled at the entrance to the companionway.

A soldier looked at her, he had brown hair with green eyes "He's dead, mate" The boy told Finley and Peter who was behind her. 

Finley immediately started to tear up "Then be bloody careful with him" she said while holding back tears

The soldier carefully moved George to the side then placed a blanket over his lifeless body 

Peter steps out of the cabin looking miserable, then the soldier that they saved from earlier asked "The lad" he started "Will be be okay?" he asked Peter 

Peter looked at the soldier and nodded slightly then he disappeared as Peter looked at his father who gave him an approving look 

Once more Collins is lifting men out of the water as he looks up at the Spitfire chasing the Heinkel "Come on, Farrier" He says again

Moonstone was filled with oily covered soldiers across the decks, just then Collins sees the Heinkel catch fire then he looks at the oil in the water 

"Go, Go, Go!" Collins yelled 

Mr Dawson throws the engine into gear, turning the wheel quickly as the Heinkel hits the oily water causing it to go up in flames.

Finley looks back, hearing screams from unsaved soldiers 

After they escape the flames a boy gets pulled out of the water, he then whispers something to himself which Finley makes out to be 

"Take me home"
