(Chapter 6) The Important Decision

Third Person P.O.V
Ino and Naruto continued walking through the hallways in silence while dodging and ducking under the students that were in the hallways still, either heading to their classroom to eat or to the cafeteria for lunch. In a hidden corner of the hallway, stood an inconspicuous door. Standing in front of it, Ino stretched her arm out and opened the door to reveal a set of stairs that would lead them right up to the roof.

Both of them began to climb the stairs and once they made it onto the last step, Naruto stretched her arm out and opened up the door, stepping onto the roof.

Going to their favorite spot, which was filled with shade that also had a nice breeze blowing through, the girls sat down and Naruto pulled out 2 bentos, 2 drinks and 2 pairs of chopsticks. Keeping the lilac colored box for herself, Naruto gave the violet colored box to Ino along with the matching pair of chopsticks.

Naruto P.O.V
After giving Ino her bento box, chopsticks and drink, I pulled mine in front of me and began to open it. "Eat up Ino, I made the food", I told her while opening my bento box.

Once I got it open, I grabbed my chopstick sleeve and slipped them out holding them in between my index and middle finger. Clapping my hands together, itadakimasu left my lips and positioning my chopsticks in between my fingers, I grabbed some rice and began to eat.

This morning, I made rice, sausages, egg rolls, salted vegetables and fried meatballs for our lunch. For the drinks, I bought 2 bottles of chamomile tea. Because Ino here loves to sleep in and only wakes up at 7:15, she doesn't prepare her lunch as she doesn't have enough time to do so. So I do it instead, seeing as I'm usually awake by 5:30 in the morning. That and because the first time that Ino ate my homemade lunch, she had literal stars in her eyes and drool was running down her chin. She looked completely stupid, but seeing her devour my lunch with such gusto made me both happy and proud. From then on, I began to make both our lunches.

Half an hour later, I finished my lunch and was sipping my tea waiting for Ino to finish her lunch as well, which admittedly didn't take to long. Because not even 5 minutes later, Ino too, was sipping her tea.

Deciding that this would be the perfect opportunity to speak, I decided to do just that. "So listen Ino, I've been thinking about something these past few weeks and I feel like I should share it with you to get your opinion." I began seriously, without a hint of a joke or playfulness about me.

Seeing me so serious made her become serious as well. "Go on, I'm listening." She said, giving me her full undivided attention.

Nodding my head at her, I continued. "Well for the past few weeks, I had been acting as my fake self, but I don't wish to keep pretending. I realize that all I'm doing is annoying all of the others around me, making them detest my presence."

Ino nodded her head at me without saying a word, but I could tell that she was processing what I was saying. Once it seemed like the information registered in her head, I continued to talk. "Today, everyone's words and attitudes gave me quite the wake up call. Their words hurt, but taking the time to sit and think back on my actions, I realize that what they said was true. I'm nothing, but an annoying disturbance that nobody wishes to be around. So the conclusion that I've come to is this, I've decided to drop my mask as the dumb, submissive target and act like my real self. What is your opinion on the matter?"

Ino P.O.V
"So the conclusion that I've come to is this, I've decided to drop my mask as the dumb, submissive target and act like my real self. What is your opinion on the matter?"

Letting her words thoroughly sink in, I don't speak or act for about a minute or two and once I've understood her words and the meaning behind them, I begin to speak.

"I would say that my opinion on this doesn't matter, but since I know that you value our friendship, I will give you my honest opinion."

She nods her head at me in both understanding and as her way of saying 'you got that right', the only thing I can do for that minute is laugh and not much later, she too joins in.

After we finish laughing, I became serious again, prompting her to do the same.

"My honest opinion is this, do what you think is right. If you want to drop your mask, then do so. However, don't drop it all at once, let it go little by little until your true personality has been completely released. Oh and Naru", I say prompting her to look into my pale blue eyes, "just remember that I'll always be here for you no matter what. Rain or shine, through hell or high waters, you can always count on me, because that's what best friends and sworn sisters are for, okay?"

She nodded her head at me and was about to say it verbally, but someone decided to use that moment to make their presence known, unknowingly, or maybe even knowingly interrupting her.

Third Person P.O.V
Naruto was about to answer her best friend, when a familiar voice was heard.

Walking up to them, they sat down a little ways away from the two girls and spoke.

Unknown P.O.V
"Me, don't forget about me, I will also be there for you, got it?" The voice questioned, sounding both playful yet serious at the same time.

Naruto turned around and faced the voice only for her eyes to widen and shock, then narrow somewhat playfully. Not dropping her mask completely, but allowing just a little bit of her true personality to shine through, she questioned the person.

"You?" She questioned calmly, before reverting back to her mask. "Kkkkkkyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaa", an unholy shriek left her lips making them all deaf. Wincing in pain, all of them clutched their ringing ears.

Once the ringing stopped, the mysterious person smirked playfully albeit darkly, before answering her question.

"Me." They answer her playfully, knowing full well that it would make her mock irritated.

Looking at me with faux innocence, she got up and sat herself down on my lap. Snuggling into my chest and wrapping her arms around my waist, before acting like her fan-girl persona once more.
