!TW! Swearing! If there are any others let me know and I will put them here!

Waking up to the bright sun shining directly into your face while someone calls your name is never the best feeling, especially when you are not a morning person, and have insomnia.

"Autumn! Wake up! There is a family visiting today who are looking for someone to foster, so get up and make yourself look presentable! And don't forget to at least try to hide your freakish-ness!" I heard Nancy, the foster-care worker, state sharply before walking out and slamming the door sharply.

Sighing, I hoist myself out of bed and walk over to the other bed in my room where my roommate, Ashlynn, or Ash for short, lays still snoring.

'How the fuck did she sleep through that?' I wonder, while gently shaking her to wake her up.

After a minute of shaking her, she wakes up with a start.

"Why did you wake meeeeeeeee?" She asks, dragging out the 'e'.

"There is a family visiting today, so get dressed," I inform her, before walking over to our shared closet and staring at the clothes inside it. Most of the clothes in the closet we didn't actually own, they were just hand-me-downs from past girls who lived in the foster-care facility.

After a minute of staring at the clothes, I finally slipped on this:

I also pulled out an outfit for Ash because she fell back asleep again

I also pulled out an outfit for Ash because she fell back asleep again.

"Ash come onnnnnnnn. You need to get dressed." I say, drawing out the 'n' and tossing her the outfit before pushing her into the bathroom that is connected to our room.

After I had gotten her into the bathroom, I grabbed my brush off of the shelf and stood in front of the mirror to brush my chest-length white hair.

As I brushed my hair, I looked myself over, to make sure I looked "presentable" enough to meet the family. As I study my reflection, my eyes linger on my ears and tail, or as Nancy calls it, my "Freakish-ness". I could, of course, just change my current hybrid features into something less noticeable, but I just didn't care anymore. That's right, I was a changeling. Something both feared and envied. (A/N- Changelings have the ability to decide what type of hybrid features they want to have at whatever time. For example, Autumn could change her features from the features of a fox that she has now to something less noticeable.)

Once everyone was downstairs, Nancy began to send us into the office where the family was waiting. While I was waiting, I opened up my phone and texted Niki.
