I'm not sure what she did was because of boys, Violet never seemed interested in boys. She always had her mind on something else... something more "important" she would say. When Violet and I were in the same school, she got teased everyday. One Monday, we were getting off the bus and I heard it for the first time. "Here comes the lesbian, hide!" I didn't even realize, I never knew how cruel kids could be, my sister wasn't like that. Even if she was, there was nothing wrong with being lesbian. That day I realized, "Bullying will not be tolerated," was just a big act. It shocked me how many teachers turned their back to us. One teacher, Ms.Lopraz didn't even look at us, as long as you were related to Violet, you were an enemy. Ms.Lopraz was wrong, she showed the other students that it was okay. Mom even called her, but she denied it and kept going. It was too much for Violet, she ended up transferring schools, I was the one left behind having to hear "Your sister is a dumb lesbian, if I were you I would watch out, it's contagious!" All I could do was listen and walk home with my head up. I stopped taking the bus, the kids would pull my hair, spit at my backpack, and step on my shoes. I didn't tell Mom, she never noticed, nobody did, I went on with my life, never noticed.
