Yue couldn't help but do mini skips as they walked down the street, it had been so long since she had never stepped out of the hospital. The sterile smell of medication and quiet hall was a huge contrast compared to the smell of steaming hot fried street food and the bustle of the city.
Having a change of scenery from those tiled white walls was everything the girl ever wanted.
Mark beside her noticed how excited she was. He smiled a little. He tugged the sleeve of her beige coat to gain her attention. As she turned to him, he noticed the happy glow she was emitting just by being out of the hospital.
Mark took her hand and led her to the nearest food stall. Yue's eyes lit up in excitement, Mark didn't think the Chinese girl would be so hyper just stepping out of the hospital.
Of course, it took a lot of convincing to get Dejun's permission to take the girl out. He didn't think the excitement was good for her heart, after some consideration with her doctor, Dejun agreed to let Mark take her out.
"OH, MY GOSH MARK!" Yue shouted, literally jumping up and down. "Look how cute these plushies are!" she squealed.
He liked seeing her like this. Mark absolutely adored the huge smile on her face and the way her eyes widened at the smallest most common things. At that moment he knew what he wanted - no, what he needed to do.
To protect the girl's smile at all costs.

"You're 10 minutes late," the nurse at the front desk working the night shift frowned at the two as they walked through the front door of the hospital. "It 9.10 - no wait, 9.11. Explain yourselves."
Mark began rubbing his neck. "We're sorry Ms. Bae, we won't be late again."
The nurse couldn't keep her frowning face a burst out laughing. "I'm kidding you guys could come back however late," she said, smiling at the two. "Just don't stress patient Yue out."
Yue giggled a little looking at Mark's little nod. Tugging his sleeve, she pulled her gently up the stairs to her room.
"Did you have fun today?" Mark asked as he slid the room door, leaving a small gap. The girl in front of him nodded.
"Thanks for walking me back," Yue began. "And well, thanks for taking me out." She gave a small smile.
The way her eyes turn into little crescents yet Mark could still see the little sparkle in them. It made butterflies erupt in his chest.
Keep that smile, keep it forever.
Mark nodded and made sure she was settled in before turning to leave. Before he opened the door, Yue called out again. "Hey. Mark?"
He turned and hummed in reply. "Thank you."
Mark gave her a small. "Anytime."
