I'm in the middle of the battlefield, a weak smile on my face. I'm looking up at my friend, my lover, and my partner in this horrid battle. My perfect, sweet, immortal partner. Or at least that's what he claims. I know whats going to happen, what he says is going to happen. Of course, in the middle of a battlefield in 1944 (what would later be known as The Battle of the buldge) things like this happen. I got shot in the chest, now here I am clinging to life in order to say goodbye to my lover.

"Remember, I promise that I'll find you in your next life. No matter how long it takes." Benjamin says softly, holding my hand to his chest, he knew that it was pointless to try and save me, I'm to far gone. "I promise I'll find you Micheal." He says with a shaky sigh, close to tears.

"I know you will Ben. I have no doubt in my mind that you'll find me." That's a lie, I have a lot of doubts. First off who said that next life's existed? I might only get this. But damn is it worth it. Even if I do get another shot, is my lover really immortal?

"I love you Micheal.." He whispers, low enough so that the other soldiers couldn't hear us, and then picking me up and kissing me hard, I feel the pinpricks of tears forming behind my eyes. He really did care about me. I don't believe in any god, but in a quick breath I send out a quick prayer to whoever is out there, begging, that if my Benjamin isn't immortal like he claims, that he may be protected in this bloody war.

"I love you too Ben." I reply through a choked sob, filled with pain. And remorse, for not confessing my love to him sooner than I did. I can feel the darkness creeping in, can feel it slowly taking me into its hold.

Suddenly, I'm a spectator, watching from the sidelines as Benjamin realizes that I've flatlined, that I've died in his arms. I look to my side. A tall thin man with no set face, and a large black cloak.

"It's time isn't it?" I say through tears.

"Yes it is, but one day you can be reborn."

"Can i do that? Please?" I ask with a small flicker of hope in my chest.

"Of course. But first you must rest." He says, sliding a hand over my face, and suddenly, I feel calm, I'm no longer worried about my boyfriend... What was his name..? I am safe with this man, and he will let me rest. I close my eyes and smile, taking in the smell. Roses, my favorite flowers. Then I welcome the darkness like and old friend, and it all fades to black
