The annoyance in stomach grows with the obnoxious sound of pool balls clinking together.
White knuckling the beer bottle in my hand I bring the brown glass up to my lips, taking a sip of the carbonated alcohol.
"Hey son, how are you feeling?" My father drags the barstool next to me out of it's place, giving him enough room to comfortably sit down.
I lean back on the stool, glancing at him with a bored expression. "Fantastic."
"You're not actually mad are you?" He leans his elbows onto the bar, looking over at me with a humorous smile.
"Yes." My face contorts in anger. "There is no fucking need to drag an innocent girl into this shit." I shake my head taking another swig of my drink.
We don't need some nosy girl tripping over her own two feet in here.
"We're not dragging her into anything, she's gonna be stitching up a bullet once a month at the most." He shrugs this off as if it's no big deal.
Like almost every single person that we have on our payroll hasn't gotten hurt at least once.
I scoff. "You know that's a fucking lie."
"Hey," He slams his hand against the wooden surface, finally taking me seriously. "You parked your motorcycles in front of her shop, you shot the guy in front of her." Light anger is trickled into his words, clearly not wanting to take responsibility for this situation. "So if anyone dragged her into anything it's you." He points to me before relaxing back on the stool.
"We don't even fucking need her!" My voice grows louder.
"Tell that to Liam." He responds quickly, not letting my words hang in the air for longer than a second.
I snap my head towards him, the muscles in my body tensing.
"Truth be told," He leans in, not wanting the rest of the guys to hear. "with this new deal, we might need her."
I look away from him, none of the decisions he's made this year have made sense. But he's the club leader, I can't do shit but go along with it.
"Fine, but I'm not cleaning this mess up." I bring the beer bottle back to my lips taking a big gulp this time."When she inevitably gets killed that blood will be in your hands, and I'm not gonna help mop it up." I look over to him, showing the sincerity behind my eyes.
"Far enough." He nods in agreement.
We both let out a simultaneous sigh, the stress that this year alone will hold already eating us alive.
