"The test results are here, Halide Hanım." She's sitting in front of an empty desk, waiting for the gynecologist to confirm the positivity of the three pregnancy tests she took the day before. The doctor enters the room with her file in hand, taking the seat behind the desk.
"Everything is more than fine, both you and the baby are perfectly healthy. I will prescribe you some vitamins though because you look a little stressed. Take it easy, okay?" She nods and takes the receipt the doctor hands her. After shaking his hand and thanking him she leaves the office and heads towards the exit of the building.
She's pregnant.
She walks down the street and finds Sabri, her father's most trusted man, waiting for her next to her car. It's no surprise for her to be followed by her father's men, this has always been a part of her life, sadly.
She's thankful for the fact that Sabri never asks questions though. He just makes sure she's safe and okay, but he never dares dig into her personal life.
She informs him that she has to meet with up a friend and then she will be back home for dinner.
Sabri trusts her word, so he takes a step back and lets her go her own way.
Halide gets into her car and dives into the Istanbul traffic. It takes her almost fourty minutes to get to Nışantaşı. She hates traffic with her whole being. She parks the car in front of Serkan's lounge bar, which is still closed to the public because of the early afternoon hour, but the door is open and her friend is swiping the wooden floors to get ready for the night shift.
"Hey Serkan" the man looks up and gives her a big smile, taking a few long steps to get closer and be able to hug her.
"How's my favourite Doctor?" He takes her to the counter and offers her something strong to drink but she refuses, of course. She asks Serkan for a glass of water instead and she's suddenly very aware of the fact that there is a life growing inside of her, a very small, very fragile one that she already feels the need to protect.
"Serkan I need a favor."she takes a small sip of her still water while her friend goes back and forth trying to finish the cleaning routine of the bar. "Do you remember the man that hit Burak the last time I came here?"
Please say yes.
"Who? Serhat?" She can feel her heart rate increase when she hears his name."Of course, he's kind of a regular, comes here at least once a week after work." Serkan stops next to her, his arms crossed in front of his chest and a playful smirk painted on his smug face. "You looking for him, Doc?"
"Shut up" she smacks him and she can feel the pinky blush of her cheeks become crimson red. "I need to talk to him I.. I have something that belongs to him?" Seriously Halide?
She would very much like to disappear, but instead she stays silent, hoping that Serkan stops teasing her. She's stressed enough because she has no idea how to break the news to Serhat about the pregnancy.
Not that she cares about how he might react. She's keeping this baby, weather he likes it or not and she is in no way telling him because she wants something from him. She just thinks it's fair that he knows, that is all.
"Here" Serkan hands her a black card with gold letters and a small logo printed on the surface.
Serhat Demirkan
Demirkan Co.
She reads the address and realizes that the building isn't far from where she is now, but when she thinks about it, she decides to wait a few days before appearing into his life again. She needs time.
