Part X: When I see you, I skip a heartbeat

Klaus came in and with vampire speed he sat in the armchair, beside bed where I was lying. Charming smile was plastered on his face.

-so, what are we going to talk about?- I asked curiously, he sat up and in the light of moon I saw his muscles under the long sleeved grey shirt.

-you were off all day, love. So I am just really interested where were you?- all this time he was smiling, but I heard worry in his voice. I coughed and simply answered:

-out with Elena, I wanted to see the city and talk with my childhood friend.- for my surprise Klaus’ face changed into angry look and for that moment I thought about him cutting my throat out. I automatically shook with fear, but in seconds he came closer and with apologetic look he said:

-sorry, love. I quickly lost control, I promise, that it will never happen again. Please look at me.- I was staring at the ceiling, I couldn’t dare to look at him again. How he can be like this? One moment the sweetest person and then scary like… Monster. I shook head, I couldn’t even imagine him being monster. After minutes I forced myself to look into his eyes. Now he looked calm and was waiting for me to speak. Our eye- contact continued for moment and after that I answered:

-I am okay. Everything’s fine.- he smiled again and I couldn’t stop myself smiling back.

We started talking about random things, Klaus made some jokes, too and we laughed so hard. After half an hour, I got sleepy. My eyes shot on its own, automatically and in this position I continued listening to his angelic voice: 

-then we returned back to the party and found him there, waiting for us.- klaus ended telling one of his stories and laughed a little bit. Then I heard his sigh and suddenly strong, but at the same time soft hand was running down my cheek. It stopped by neck and those long fingers started circling around my weak spots. I mumbled something like moan and opened one eye to see Klaus grining down at me. 

-you’re so beautiful, caroline.- he whispered and in a quick move he left me.. confused and gruesomely breatheless.

*.*.*.*

Next morning a call from unknown number woke me up. I answered half asleep and found out damon’s annoying voice telling me some stuff about future plans:

-and I’ll see you at 2 o’clock, so you should be ready by the time and we’ll go to my old friend, she is a witch and maybe she’ll help us..- it was brilliant idea, but not for now, not for today. I needed a good rest from everything, so before I hung up I simply answered:- fuck off, damon. 

Then I went back to my dreamyworld about pizzas, nice places and a baby, I guess. Who was staring at me with wide blue eyes, which turned into green on the light as klaus’ did. Suddenly I heard someone nearly banging on my door and loud statement was followed after that, it said:

-I was sure Barbie about how your answer would went, so I was already on my way to this goddamn house. Believe me, lady wake up and be downstairs in fifteen minutes, or you’ll regret this for eternity.- damon chuckled and left me alone, groaning against my purple pillow. How can this guy be such annoying and fuckin irritating? Lord, how can elena endure him all day? Oh and wtf was nickname “Barbie”? maybe it is connected to some past events, which I don’t even remember, so I’ll ask later. 

After three good minutes, I was up and was straightening my messed up hair, then I applied makeup, I went with smokey eyes and dark purple lipstick, at last when I checked myself I grinned widely, cause outfit perfectly suited it. 

When I went down damon was relaxing himself by a cup of bourbon and a song of metal band, called in this moment. I coughed and started waiting for his attention in vain. Damon was lost in thoughts, or, maybe just was into the music so deeply. 

-damon? Are you going to stop concealing me at least and tell me about today’s plans?- he smirked and then stood up with serious look. For that moment song was already ended and silence ruled all over the place, as long as damon didn’t start talking:

-we’re going to bryceland. It’s the place where my friend lives. I called her two days ago and explained the situation. So she wants to see you and probably, she will tell some advice too.- he started walking to an exit and before we went outside damon added:- by the way, her name is sylwia. 

I wasn’t sure how Klaus would react about my sudden disappearance, maybe he would be angry, or offended, cause I didn’t warn him about this little trip. So when we stopped for some stuff, like beer and water for me, I left a message for him, telling that I was with damon and if this plan would work out everything would be okay. Then I added that being with this blue eyed guy was safe, so he didn’t have to worry about my safety.
