Chapter 8: Introductions II

"It's really good, isn't it?"

"Yeah, yeah, thank you Sakon."

"Again, for Sakon to be this friendly, he must've seen something in you. He's quiet most of the time, and honestly, doesn't give two shits about anything"

"I see..", as I bumped my trigger deep into my pocket. I tried to deduce much of this crew but it seems like they all have this aura.. or like a wall that stops me from going further. Guarded is a word to use here. It's like they too know how deductions work and have made countermeasures to stop someone from finding out too much about them.

"So, here, the map of the school. As you've known, Susano, we're gathering info on The Organisation. So far, it's been stale. Until today.

Let's get down to business. Who are you? What do you do?"

kuso.. they found out. I don't even know if I can trust them. Ahh. Hmmm.... It's better if I stand my ground now.

"I'm not able to share that information. But it seems like you've seen what I can do, so I'd like to keep it that way for now. Just know that we're both on the same sides, and in time, you'll know. Don't worry."

"Hmm, I can't argue with that. In that case, let's move on. The enemy. I'm guessing that was them. Am I right?"

I nod.

"Anything that you found out? Motives?"

Sighing deeply, I answered, "War is coming. That's all I know."

"Well, that's pretty obvious considering they already attacked civilians, but any other intel?"

"None. It was just a sentence. From the way it looked, it was probably a scout sent just to relay that message."

Alice chimed in, "I agree, when I protected the man, that thing kept repeating that war is coming until Susano arrived. All of a sudden it had a will of it's own..."

Hmm. Could be a scout controlled manually to personally combat me. It wasn't that hard to subdue the enemy anyways.

Folding my arms, I continued, "It's probably a scout manually controlled from a distance. I'd reckon one or two miles radius. Would be good if we could get some intel on the surrounding areas to find out who the remote was. Definitely not here in the school though, so we should be focusing on the external areas if we want to find some ground."

Sakon put down his chips and snapped his fingers, "We find the remote, we find the one in charge, then we'll be closer to finding who runs this show."

Layla added, "Agreed. Looks like the newborn is experienced. Good points. Any other comments from anyone?"

Nobody added.

"Then in that case, we are looking forward to be working with you, Susano."

"Likewise, all of you."

"There's alot to uncover here, & like Susano has explained, we need to cover more ground. We'll have to expand our search radius, but we can do that starting next week. Chances are the scout has most probably left and much of the clues are minimal. I'll take care of that today. If there's any updates-"

My phone beeped a notification. "Layla."

"- we'll drop by a message.", she ended, with a laugh.

"How did- Hmm, as expected."

"Hahaha, you are fun to tease. We'll meet back here next week. Drop by Susano, we'll welcome you."

Sakon tapped my shoulder and Akane gave a welcoming smile.

Layla looked back to the room, "Ah, and not to forget.. all the best Alice."

Alice flushed with expression, "Wha- wHa- Noo- What are you saying!!"

The trio let out a hearty laugh and stared at me. Layla smiled, "Susano, don't be indecent. With that, I end this meeting. kaisan~."

Sakon & Akane took their bags and disappeared from the room. Layla was looking through the intel, & Alice was still flustered beside me.

Hmm, they really are good. Guess I can let them run their ops. Next week huh... Got it.. And well.. Since it's a Friday today, I think I'm gonna go back to base to train up. The fucker's last meeting is still etched in my mind, and maybe Captain can advise me on other skills I could learn. Where's Alice going..? Maybe I could.... Walk her back... If she's on the way... Right.

"Ciao, Layla."

"Right back at you, Susano."

"So uh, hey, Alice. Soooo. Where are you going now?"

Alice looked, as her cheeks stopped flustering. "I think I'll go back home!! I need to finish up the homework and also prepare for next week."

"Ah, hmm. I see.. Hmm. Do you.. Hmm. Would you like me... Um, to walk you back... Home? It's um, pretty dangerous out here.. As seen.. I guess..?"

Alice flushed. "Yes, I'd love that."

Smiling from ear to ear Alice walked with both her hands behind her back. Walking with euphoria. I followed behind, admiring her beauty & grace.
