This is for you, Emily :) Hope you like it!
The soft satin hugged my frame as I ran my hands down and all over the beautiful pearl dress. Light cream tulle fabric that started mid-waist flowed down to the floor, and trailed a foot or two behind me. White little beads created flowery patterns on the top, sewed onto another white fabric, lighter though, and of silk. The exposed skin of my shoulders made me slightly shiver, but I would warm once the veil was placed on top of my head.
I dazed at myself, so mesmerized as to how beautiful I looked. Not only did I appear to be a princess, but I most certainly felt like one. Makeup was light and minimal, no need for heavy mascara and lipstick on my wedding day.
Wedding. Wow.
I was really gonna get married. To a handsome, loving and caring man who I loved like no other. He was perfect, and still I question as to why out of all the girls he could've chosen, many more prettier and funnier and smarter than I will ever be, he chose me. Not gonna complain, though, haha. I was finally feeling complete; Harry being my other half I've longed for my entire life. Now I was going to spend the rest with him. After getting finished dressing and looking like a perfect wife-to-be, I made my way into the hallway where my father awaited.
This was really it. I was going to get married. I still remembered the day we met like it was yesterday..
After finally finished with final exams at uni, I was well deserved of a break. The first thought that came to my mind was heading to the little cafe I always went to, just to relax since it wasn't popular so there was a highly likely chance it wouldn't be crowded. Deciding I needed their delicious baked treats, I headed out.
I had no idea a certain green-eyed boyband member decided to pay the shoppe a visit as well..
I was standing in front of the counter, waiting for Carl, the owner, to come out to take my order.
"So do you know what's good here?" I nearly jumped out of my skin hearing a deep voice ask behind me. I turned around to see the most beautiful guy I've ever seen, and oddly familiar. Who was he?
"Um, the lobster rolls are pretty good. I get them everytime.." I responded, not used to customers around here. Mostly it was just me, Carl(the owner), and Mary, a worker who was middle aged and usually sat on a stool behind the counter reading some magazine.
Frankly, I wasn't all thrilled to see him here. I enjoyed the peace and tranquility this place had, and I didn't need anyone coming in here and take that away.
"..sorry to bother you, but you look really familiar.... Or maybe I'm just weird, I don't really know.." I wondered aloud,"well now I sound foolish asking a stranger if they're familiar. Sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable if you are telling me who you are-"
"It's alright. I'm used to people recognizing me. I'm Harry, Harry Styles." He chuckled. Harry Styles? Ohh, right! One Direction. Faces plastered everywhere. Millions of screaming girls. How could I not recognize him?
"Oh, hi. I know you.. not in a creepy way. It's just... I know One Direction and.. you're in.. it" I diverted my eyes around the cafe, feeling awkward. Did he feel awkward too? Why was I this way, unable to talk properly? He was just boy! But a rather reallyyy good looking one, to admit.
Carl finally came out and took my order. To quickly avoid Harry and his chocolate curls, I sat down with my food at the back of the cafe.
Unfortunately... he followed me and sat down in front of me. This guy just thinks he can do what he wants. Ugh.
"You know my name, what's yours?" Having a crooked grin on his face, he looked geniunely interested in wanting to know me.
"Emily." I simply replied, taking bite of the tasteful pastry.
"Nice to meet you, Emily." He smiled bigger this time, somewhat making me have this feeling in my chest.
Who knew a little run-in at a petite cafe in a noncrowded street could make all this happen. We just lounged around enjoying each other, and continued to do so many more times following that warm, spring afternoon.
Our relationship since then hasn't been perfect, though, and we've had some breakouts, but there were more good days than bad. In fact, it was nearly perfection being the two lovesick people we were. We had been at it for a couple years until the One Direction hysteria died down, and Harry brought me back to that little cafe on the corner. There were tears and plenty of happiness and joyfulness since he propped down on one knee and pulled out this gorgeous diamond ring to place on my ring finger.
Suddenly noticing that I stopped to a halt, I glanced to my dad, pools of water forming in both our eyes.
"Dad, I'm nervous." And you could certainly tell as my voice wavered saying that simple sentence.
"You love Harry right?" My dad asked, staring right into my blue orbs. I nodded vigirously. Of course I did.
"Then there's nothing to worry about Emily." He replied. He gave me a reassuring smile before we both spun on our heels as the huge double doors opened. Chairs grumbled as the audience stood up, that recognizable song that brought greatful memories back because me and Harry had danced to it so many times. Our song.
My stomach was churning and I felt queasy. A tight squeeze on my arm was telling me to be calm as my dad felt me shaking.
My head raised up and I saw it. His loving, caring, adorable face that was more defined and mature than when we met years ago. He would always be my same cheeky, young Harry though.
The feeling in my stomach vanished as he mouthed three words that made my heart flutter. His piercing green eyes held excitement and nervousness, too. But I felt all those emotions gone instantly as I released my dad's arm, kissing his cheek, and hugged him. I was truly grateful he was there to walk me down the aisle, along with my mother who helped organize this whole event.
I felt familiar hands intertwine with mine as I walked up the steps to my future husband. All the usual was said that priest's say during weddings and our "I do's" and vows were exchanged. Finally, as the priest said the words "You may now kiss the bride", Harry's lips crashed on mine, both of us uncontrollably smiling into it.
Whooping and whistling and clapping was heard all around-mostly coming from the four other best friends that sat in the front row, whom I've also come to be good friends with over the years. That didn't matter though. Everything around us was just the background, and I didn't pay much attention at all.
No matter how many times me and Harry have locked lips, this will always be the most special and memorable. The last chapters in our lives before were done, and this day marked the day we would write a new one together.
The kiss was over before I knew it, and he just stared lovingly into my eyes as I did the same, both of us wearing warm smiles. The reception came and we slow danced in the middle, my head on his chest and his arms wrapped around me. Our song played faintly, mixing in with soft chattering.
A finger tapped me on the shoulder, and I whirled around to see my father. As much as I didn't want to let go of Harry's warm embrace, I knew I had to have these last moments with my mom and dad before their youngest grew up and out of their nest. I accepted and squeezed Harry's hand, letting him go off to his own family. Knowing him, I knew he so badly didn't want to let go of me either.
But we had the rest of forever to do that.
