My eyes scanned the countless heart shaped boxes on the shelf. I wasn't getting one for anyone I was just looking. Each having its own unique design of different swirls, felt covering, some covered in gold. They were pretty but of course I had no one to get them for me. My boyfriend was gone for the next month (conveniently in February) to see his family back home.I debated on whether or not to just buy myself a box and pretend like Hyunjin had gotten it for me but evidently decided against it in the end thinking how stupid that would be. Sighing I finally brought myself to step away from the many boxes of chocolate. I'm not even a big chocolate eater it's just the thought of getting something like that from someone I love that makes my heart swell.
"I could buy you one, Hyunjae"
I was pulled from my thoughts from the only other girl in our group and my best friend.
"I saw you looking at them, I could buy you one"
I chuckled at her suggestion and shook my head. "I just miss Hyunjin that's all. Your boyfriend didn't go home to see his family so you get him for Valentine's Day but I won't get to see mine"
"I won't be seeing him much anyway. He's gonna be in the studio with Chan most of the time" She frowned.
I knew it was wrong of me to make her feel guilty over the fact she got to keep her boyfriend here while mine was hours away but all I could think about was how he wouldn't be here for the one day a year that you're forced to spend actual money on your significant other. Such a stupid holiday but society had engrained the feeling of needing to be loved on this one specific day. A day couples post each other and what they received and this year I was gonna see all of this but not be able to experience it myself.
"You can FaceTime him. I'm sure that could make you feel a bit better"
It was really sweet of her to try and make me feel better but the only thing that could in that moment was him being here.

My eyes slowly opened and as soon as they did all the memories from yesterday had rushed back. The conversation I had with Liyah. The staring at boxes of chocolate I wouldn't be able to receive. The me missing Hyunjin. Sighing I checked my phone to find no notifications which was odd considering Hyunjin texted me every morning to make sure I had a good rest or to just talk. He was with his family so maybe he just got distracted and forgot.
I went through my morning routine of washing my face fixing my hair and brushing my teeth. I wasn't all that hungry this morning so I ended up skipping breakfast which was probably a bad idea. I should've had a little something but I didn't.
The house was oddly quiet even though it's 9:20 AM and at least a few people are usually up doing things. I could see why Liyah and Felix wouldn't be here but the others usually are up. Chan usually cooks a big breakfast for everyone but he wasn't. Jisung and Lino usually play video games but they weren't. Seungmin is usually showering around this time but he wasn't. It was very odd to me.
I was about to watch some tv in the living room when I noticed a small trail of something purple on the ground. I bent down closer to see it and picked one up with my finger rubbing it between them feeling how soft and gentle it felt. A flower petal. Why would this be here? I debated sweeping them up but maybe Felix was trying to surprise Liyah with something so I decided against it. I almost sat back down when my nosy ass got the better of me and I decided to follow the trail.
It led out the front door and into the garage where decorations were set up. Heart shaped balloons strung around the garage. A table filled with cookies, cakes, juices and other desserts. More flower petals all over the floor and a vase of the same type of flowers on the table beside a massive box of chocolates.
Wow. Felix had really gone all out for her. It must've been nice.
"Do you like it?" I jumped at the sound of another persons voice thinking I was alone. It was Liyah.
"I would ask you the same. Felix really out did himself"
She chuckled at my response and shook her head.
"Silly, Felix didn't do this. Hyunjin did. Sorry for the absence of the others. They're around trying to get more foods and decorations but you've found the surprise a little too early"
I couldn't focus on anything she said other than the fact she said Hyunjin had did this. "How could- wait what"
She chuckled again at my shocked expression. You'd think she was messing with me if I didn't see Hyunjin....HYUNJIN walking into the garage with my own two eyes. I thought they were playing tricks on me but no there he was standing there.
"Well don't just stand there, come hug me princess"
It's like my feet had a mind of their own because whilst my mind was distracted my feet took off running towards him. My arms instantly wrapped around his being embraced by his warmth. I actually started tearing up. I hadn't been able to hold him like this in a few weeks.
"Why didn't you tell me you were gonna make a surprise visit??!"
"You answered your own question, because it was a surprise" he smiled down at me his smile sending butterflies through my stomach. "Liyah was telling me that you were looking at boxes of chocolate so I got you the biggest one they had there. Hopefully that makes up for the time I was gone"
All I could do was nod and hug him tighter making him rub my back.
"I also saw some pretty purple flowers that reminded me of you. Soft and beautiful"
This boy really did know all the right words to say didn't he.
"I love them!" Was all I could muster up to say. I just wanted to hold him as long as I possibly could knowing that in a few hours he would return how to his family for the rest of the month but right now. Right now I had him and I wanted to keep it that way for a little longer.
