i roam the busy halls, scrolling through the recent About That post.

"why do you emotionally scar yourself with that bullshit?" i look up and meet my brother's eyes.

"because it allows me to realize that this entire school is nothing but a bunch of stuck up assholes coupled with a few drug dealers. and this just further proves that fact." i tilt my screen towards tyler and allow his eyes to scan the screen.

"how does he even find this shit out?" he questions, glancing towards me. i simply shrug in response.

he turns towards the glass doors, leading to the parking lot, but stops when he notices me turn the opposite direction.

"where are you going?" he asks, running to catch up to me.

"detention." i simply respond.

"on the first day?" i nod and slow by mr. avery's classroom. "well, sucks to be you. what do you want me to tell uncle jason if he asks?"

"whatever you want, just not this." i shove my thumb towards the door as he starts to back away.

"okay, so banging macauley?" he jokes, turning to walk forward, instead of backwards.

"that either, asshole!" i yell, standing on my toes and cupping my hands around my mouth as i do.

"what, don't want to be caught dead with me?" i hear from behind me. i turn and meet nate's eyes.

"what? no! well, not necessarily. well yes, but especially not by my uncle." i stumble over my words, pushing open the wooden door. nate laughs at my expense, following me inside.

"good luck with that, bindipo." he smirks, making his way to the back of the room. i roll my eyes before scanning the room in front of me. i make eye contact with adelaide prentiss and smile shyly. i walk over to her and sit down to her left.

"what brings little miss princess prentiss to detention on the first day?" i joke, setting my bag on the ground.

"that dumb phone rule mr. avery has." she rolls her eyes just thinking of the incident.

"fun." i say sarcastically.

"enough chit-chat you two. this is detention, not the cafeteria." mr. avery glances up from him desk to shush us, before looking to the door as cooper clay walks through.

i smile in his direction, him flashing his perfectly white teeth back at me. he reaches in his backpack, pulling out a paper pouch. he opens it and hands me a silver wrapper, to which i quickly grab from his hand. i open it and place the pink strip in my mouth.

addy scoffs at cooper in response. he laughs, sitting behind me and grabbing two more pieces of gum, handing one to her and opening the other. she takes it gladly and starts to chew on it as well.

within a few seconds, the door creaks as bronwyn rojas and simon kelleher shuffle in the room. addy and i exchange glances at the sight of the female brunette before i shrug. nate comments on the girl before mr. avery can.

"you make a wrong turn? this is detention, not student council." he tilts his chair back as a smirk grows onto his perfectly chiseled cheekbones.

you'd have to be blind to not find nate macauley attractive. i've thought about hooking up with him before, but i've decided against it. only the weak and slutty get with a guy like him. and i am neither of those.

"save the commentary." mr. avery checks off his clipboard as he gets up and closes the door behind simon. bronwyn takes a seat somewhere around the room, simon soon following.
