"So what does one do on a date?" 10k asked, trying to play along with what he obviously thought was a joke.

"Well," I replied, playing along, "Typically you would buy me a coffee and we would talk about our interests, hobbies, what we do for a living...you know, the whole getting to know each other thing. And if we hit it off, I might let you kiss me."

This caught 10k's attention like I knew it would. After the way he had looked at me before, I knew exactly what was on his mind. Raising one eyebrow, I teased, "But you have to get to know me first."

So that's what we did for the next hour and a half while keeping an eye out for Z's and other living humans. Had we been just two normal people in a pre-Z world, I would have been already sneaking a picture of him to send to my best friend and gushing over how cute he was. But all things considered, I was quietly congratulating myself on coming up with such a brilliant idea to get him to talk to me.

"Well, looks like someone made a new friend," Warren said from behind us. She actually looked amused as she pointed towards the darkness where the kitchen and bathrooms were located, "Get some sleep you two. I'll take over watch."

10k and I got up and made our way back towards the darkness. When we had rounded the corner and out of Warren's sight, he whispered, "So based on our 'date', would you have let me kiss you?"

I looked up at him, barely making out his features in the gloom. I bit my bottom lip, wondering exactly how far I could take this game we were playing. I was also aware we were alone. We could head towards the kitchen area with the rest of the group or we could go back towards the bathrooms where we could be even more alone.

"I think I would have," I replied coyly. 10k moved closer until we were just a few inches apart. I tilted my head up as he bent his, our lips brushing each other in a soft, exploratory kiss. When neither of us pulled away, 10k kissed me harder, one hand reaching around my waist to pull me closer.

I hadn't been kissed in years and it tasted better than anything on the Starbucks menu. Pressing myself against the length of his lean body, I felt the muscles beneath his clothing. Normally I would have only let the date get this far, but this was the apocalypse. All those rules went out the window, right alongside normal dates and Starbucks coffee.

"10k," I whispered against his lips.

"Hm?" He murmured.

"Come with me."
