Out of the ordinary
DAWSON'S HEART WAS BEATING RAPIDLY AGAINST his chest as he made his way to Mr. Saltzman's office. It wasn't often that he got in trouble, so when he did, it always made him a bit nervous for his consequences. Especially since he didn't exactly remember what he had done wrong.
"Sir, i'd like to say in advance that i'm so—" the Lockwood boy stopped in his tracks as he looked around the room and seen eleven other students packed into the room. "So sorry i'm late."
"You aren't late, bud. It's eight on the dot." Ollie said as placed a firm hand on the other boys shoulder with a smile.
Dawson sighed, rolling his eyes slightly at the other teen. They had been through their millionth fight and the werewolf wasn't going to give it up just yet. He wasn't able to push his feelings aside like the blonde was, and there were times where it bothered him tremendously.
"Can we get this meeting started already?" Andrea spoke up from their corner of the room, her body pressed up against the wall with a dry expression written across her face.
"Yeah, alright." Alaric Saltzman clapped his hands together lightly as he sat up his desks, looking between the few students that remained in his office. "Sheila, a silencing spell, please."
Sheila Bennett replied with the nod of her head before pushing her way through the group of people. She grabbed a small hand full of salt as she closed her eyes, mumbling the spell beneath her breath. Finally, after a few moments she threw the salt into an already lit candle, a short sizzling noise echoing throughout everyone's ears.
"Nobody outside of this room will be able to hear us." The witch spoke, leaning up against the desk.
"What's with all the secrecy? I have to be honest, it's making me kind of uncomfortable Mr. Saltzman." Dawson admitted, laughing awkwardly.
"Dawson is right, you have to admit this is all kind of creepy." Andre Dubois spoke up from his side of the room, arms crossed comfortably over his chest.
"I know you all probably have a lot of questions so, i'm going to get right into it." Alaric cleared his throat lightly, beginning to speak. "As you know, a lot of people have been enrolling into the school. Problem is, we have nowhere to put them anymore."
"What exactly does that have to do with us?" Liza Mikaelson questioned, kicking her feet up into their brothers lap.
"If any of you would let me finish, i'd tell you it means we have to do things a bit differently around here." The Saltzman man ran his hand over his face with a sigh. "I picked you all because you are my most advanced students, you'll be going to Mystic Falls High beginning next week."
There was a few moments of silence in the room, everyone thinking that his words were a complete and utter joke. There was no way he'd send a few mindless teens out into a world they didn't understand, right? Wrong.
"The threw of us have a pack, dad. What are we supposed to do with that?" Rena Saltzman asked, referring to her, Zach, and Dawson.
"I'm all up for new things but, I have to agree with her." Zachary shrugged his shoulders lightly, letting his arms rest behind his head.
"These people around you are your pack now, and the only people you can trust at that school." Alaric put his hands together. "Remember that."
"I hate to rain on your parade, Mr. Saltzman but, do you want to explain exactly what that means? It sounds like you are throwing us all into a dangerous situation." Genevieve commented, looking nervous about her headmasters announcement.
"I wouldn't be sending you if I didn't think you could handle it." The man stood up from his seat, making everyone stand back slightly. "I will be calling you all back to my office, but for now, this meeting is over."
Alaric reached forward and put out the candle with the tips of his fingers. "Goodbye everyone."
"This is going to be a shitshow." Ansel Salvatore mumbled to themselves, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear.
They weren't wrong.
WITH THEIR MOMS BEING BEST FRIENDS, Sheils and Mari were pretty close too. They were like vinegar and honey, but oddly, they mixed well. Mariana would warn Sheila when her bluntness or rudeness would go overboard, and The Bennett girl would warn her friend when she was being a little too understanding. It was all a balancing act, one that worked well in the end.
"I just don't know how I feel about this whole." The Salvatore lowered her voice before leaning forward. "Secret mission thing. I mean, it's crazy, right?"
"With the world we live in, nothing's crazy. Besides, I can't be too upset, it's not like we have a choice or anything." Sheils spoke dryly, spinning her fingers in a circle as the drink before her twirled round and round. "I can tell you one thing, no using magic is going to be a huge bore."
"Did someone say boring?" Alexander Mikaelson appeared, his large plate of food in hand as he joined the girls with a smile on his face.
"We were just talking about our..." Mari lowered her voice once again. "Assignment."
That made Alex's brows furrow in a knot.
"What the fuck are you talking about, Mar?" He giggled lightly taking a bite of his sandwich.
"She's talking about us going to the high school, and thinks someone cares enough to listen to our conversation." Sheila lightly shrugged her shoulders, pushing her bowl of fruit forward. "Want the kiwi's?"
"Do I want your kiwi's?" Alex wore a sloppy grin. "Did you even have to ask."
He snatched the bowl into his hand as he dumped the green fruit onto his plate, noting this was probably the nicest Sheila had ever been to him. Which, is pretty sad considering they had known each other for years but, it's just who she was. He just always wished she'd let loose and talk to him a bit more.
"I hope we are all just going to ignore how bad that sounded." Mariana commented with a smile, slapping her friend lightly on the arm.
Even Sheila cracked a small smile as she looked down at her hands then back up towards the soccer field. She glanced toward one of the boys playing, her cheeks flushing red at the sight of him. No, they hadn't talked much, and yes, she probably figured he didn't exist but...
She figured she could admire Zachary Zhao from afar.
