It was the very first time Taehyung had wished to vanish into thin air.
The food tasted nothing as he forced himself to finish everything on his plate while mustering all his strength to smile.
"Is the food to your liking?" Yeri asked.
A quick nod was Taehyung's response as he grabbed the water to push the tasteless food down his throat.
"You should eat more." She continued, smiling sweetly as if she didn't just tried to start a verbal fight with him moments ago.
"I'm all good." Taehyung retorted, glancing over to Jungkook who was quiet the moment he sat across him.
He didn't look his way even once which utterly made Taehyung feel like shit.
He's fully aware that he shouldn't feel that way, but even his own heart couldn't be dictated.
"You're probably maintaining your great figure?" Yeri asked, seemingly interested.
Her reactions were so fake that Taehyung could almost feel his stomach hurt from indigestion.
"Not really. I just don't feel like eating more than my stomach could handle."
He politely gestured the food in front as he smiled.
"You should eat more. As for me, I better get going. I don't want to be a nuisance to the both of you." He added.
He saw Yeri smile even more, one that seemed to taunt him.
"Oh no, you're not being a nuisance. In fact, you just made my dinner date with Jungkook fun."
Her words could've been mistaken to be genuine, but Taehyung could clearly see they're not.
"I know Jungkook's enjoying this too, right honey? After all, you two used to be schoolmates, right?" She asked with eagerness.
Taehyung could only fake a smile as he gazed at Jungkook who finally looked his way.
It was in that brief moment that their eyes met before Jungkook looked away.
"If you're done eating, we should go." Jungkook said, looking at Yeri who was pouting.
"What's the rush? Isn't it nice to have a little talk with our new model and your former schoolmate? You two must have a lot to talk about." She insisted, pouring wine in her glass.
"Yeri."
Jungkook's voice was deep and firm as he called the woman's name. Taehyung would've flinched if it was him being called in such a way that made his toes curl.
"Just drop it. If you're not going, then I'll be on my way." Jungkook said, gazing at the other intensely.
"Can't I finish this first? Please?" Yeri asked, gesturing the bottle of wine that's not even half empty.
Taehyung saw how Jungkook sighed in defeat as he nodded.
The sight made his heart clench. There's something in the way Jungkook looked at Yeri.
Was it love?
Taehyung couldn't tell. All he knew was his heart felt like it was being squeezed by a force he couldn't see.
"So what was I saying?" Yeri tried to recall while Taehyung darted his eyes in his clasped hands under the table.
"Finish that up." Jungkook commanded, standing from his seat that created a screeching sound from the chair being abruptly dragged.
"Excuse me. I need a smoke." He said, walking away from their table.
Taehyung couldn't help but trail his eyes on the ravenette's back as he saw him go out on the restaurant's view deck.
