A True Love's Kiss

Chapter 6

5 YEARS LATER

In a large field there was a ridge and on the other side Maleficent and Diaval watched as the small family were having a picnic. A snap caught Maleficent attention and Y/n pushed through the bushes.

"Hey, Diaval I brought the- Oh." Y/n paused seeing Maleficent, they haven't talked in four years and Diaval set them up. "Diaval."

The raven cawed and quickly flew off. The two sat in silence until Maleficent used his magic and pulled Flittle hair.

"Ow!" She gasped and pulled Thistlewit's hair, thinking she did it. Y/n crossed her arms as Maleficent blew off Knotgrass's hat. Knotgrass and Flittle tackled Thistlewit down. Unaware four year old Aurora chasing after a butterfly.

"Oh, look." Maleficent chuckled and watched as the girl got closer to the cliff. "The little beast is about to fall off the cliff."

"What?" Y/n snapped and gasped as Aurora screamed as she fell. She was about to jump off to save her, when a tree limp grabbed the child and set her on the ground. Y/n turned her head to see Maleficent had closed his eyes and controlled the tree.

"What?" Maleficent asked when he noticed Y/n staring at him. He leaned back on the tree and sighed.

1 YEAR LATER

As Maleficent healed one of the large trees, unaware that Y/n was sitting in the tree watching. She missed him with every ounce of her body but she knew he was different still.

"Hello." A small voice said, catching their attention. Maleficent turned to see small Aurora staring up at him.

"Go away." Maleficent said, but she stepped closer to him. "Go. Go away. I don't like children."

But, Aurora wrapped her arms around his legs and gave a toothy smile. Y/n's jaw dropped as Diaval flew down next to her and cooed at her. The fey closed his beak and pointed down at the two.

"Up, up." Aurora giggled. Maleficent rolled his eyes and picked up the small child. Aurora grabbed his large horns and his sharp cheeks. Maleficent put down the child and patted her head.

"Go along. Go, go, go." Maleficent said and pushed her back. As Aurora made her way back home, Maleficent watched as she went.

4 YEARS LATER

"Like Maleficent said, Aurora did grow in grace and beauty."

Diaval cawed as Aurora playfully chased him around a table, until Aurora reached out and softly petted him.

"Pretty bird."

"Far away from the lofty palace that she remembered not. And as the seasons changed and the flowers grew, so did she."

6 YEARS LATER

Aurora laughed as she jumped out of a pile of leaves, shaking her long blond hair and making leaves angels in the leaves.

The winter came fast. Aurora made her way through the woods, a small reindeer turned around a tree and saw the girl.

"Hello. That's it." Aurora cooed as the reindeer came up to her. Next to one of the snow covered trees, Maleficent watched, Y/n standing next to him. Over the years the two have gotten closer, they still never talked about that day.

"There you go." Aurora giggled.

"She wondered at the world about her and at what lay beyond the fearsome wall of thorns."

Aurora stood in front of the large thorns. Unaware of the three figures behind her. Maleficent and Y/n wore wool coats, while Diaval stood beside them.
