Peter Parker
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
My mind has been spinning ever since I landed on top of that train. Where is everyone I know? Where is MJ? And why is there another MJ that just so happens to be dating Spider-Man? Are all MJ's that hot?
Snap out of it Parker. You have your own MJ back home. You need to focus on getting back to her and returning this MJ's Peter Parker back to her. She seemed really distraught about her Peter disappearing, and I felt bad for her. I missed my MJ too. I missed her jokes and her seemingly negative attitude. She always made me laugh and I couldn't wait to get back to her.
Even though it felt so weird being here, not knowing when and if I would return, I felt comfortable sitting in MJ's apartment with her. It was the same one Happy lived in back home. Although MJ was a much better decorator than Happy is.
"Peter?" MJ spoke, breaking me out of my thoughts. She was hard at work on her laptop, finding news stories of different missing people across the country. Whatever brought me here also took a lot of people to who knows where. "Are you even listening?" She asked.
"Yeah, totally." I replied, studying her as smirk started fighting its way across her lips. "No, sorry, I was definitely in space." I laughed before scooting closer to her and glancing at her screen. She glared at me before showing me the newest story that was published by the New York Tribune.
"Five Altco Employees Missing, Is Elizabeth Altco to Blame?"
"They're blaming your mom for the disappearances?" I asked. What would MJ's mom have to do with her employees missing?
"Yeah, apparently they knew too much and she had to get rid of them." MJ rolled her eyes and closed her laptop, throwing it onto the couch next to her. "Ugh." She huffed, covering her face with her hands. "It honestly would not surprise me." MJ laughed. "But these missing people have to be connected to you being here. But no one would believe us."
"I agree." I sighed. "But I don't agree with you blaming me for their disappearance." I gave her the most serious face I could force before giving up and laughing. MJ lightly shoved my shoulder and laughed, briefly locking eyes with me. I felt my stomach do flips when she smiled at me. It was a smile that was so genuine. A smile that makes me feel right at home, even though my home is universes away.
What the heck are you doing Peter?
"You know what I mean." She grinned and rolled her eyes before switching to a page with a research paper about the newest tech at Altco. "But look at this, Peter." She said, scrolling to big bold letters that read: Time Travel in the Quantum Realm
"No way." My mouth dropped and I jumped from my seat. "Time travel? Is that for real? It can't be real. Time travel isn't real. Did I time travel?" I rambled with lots of arm movements, making MJ burst out laughing.
"Peter! My God!" She managed to squeak out in between laughs. "Chill, you didn't time travel, your universe and mine are in the same year." MJ said and I let out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding in.
"Oh, right." I said and scratched the back of my neck. "Yeah, that makes sense." I sighed and sat back down on the sofa next to MJ.
"For the record, it's cute when you ramble." MJ smiled at me and I felt a blush rush to my cheeks. I returned the smile and quickly looked away so she wouldn't notice my bright red face. "So, should we check it out?" MJ asked, changing the subject and closing her laptop.
"It wouldn't hurt." I suggested and stood from my spot on the sofa. "You think this may be the cause of all of our problems?" I asked her as we walked towards the door. MJ quickly grabbed her purse and threw it over her shoulder before pulling the door shut behind us.
