y/n's pov

I walked through the diner and spotted my friends not far from where I was standing.

Stan had dropped me off at home after the football game, as of my request. I was tired and didn't want to third wheel anymore, so I decided to leave.

I didn't get to sleep right away though. Oliver confronted me before I made it to my room because I smelled like weed, I just blamed Stan and went to bed.

As I walked closer, I caught snippets of their conversation.

"You fucked Stanley Barber?" Dina laughed. "You fucked Stanley Barber?"

"You don't have to keep repeating it. Liam is right there."

I stopped just behind the table and my heart dropped. Of fucking course.

"I'm sorry, I'm just processing."

"Hey guys." I put on a smile and slid into the seat beside Dina.

"Oh, hey Y/N." Dina was still giggling. "Did you hear?"

I made eye contact with Syd and she looked down. She knew I knew about what happened and I know she knew about my crush on Stan.

"About what?"

"Syd fucked Stanley Barber!"

"Oh..."

"So, how was it?" Dina turned back to face Syd.

"It was... great."

Dina spat her drink back into her cup. "Really?"

"Really. I mean..." Syd looked at me and then back at Dina. "so good at going down on me, I was like, "Woah!"

I stood up and walked over to the counter to order myself breakfast and hopefully the whole "My best friend had sex with the guy she knew I had a crush on" talk would subdue.

I walked back over to the table and sat down.

"We were supposed to go to Ricky Berry's birthday party tonight, but I don't think he's up for it."

"Oh, you got invited to that?" I asked.

Dina looked up from her phone and at us. "Um... Yeah, I guess I sort of got invited."

"Right, cool." Syd said awkwardly.

"I don't know. I don't... think I'm gonna go, though, so..."

"What? To go take care of Brad?" Syd asked.

"I mean..." Dina chuckled.

"Fuck it. Why don't we just go together, the three of us?"

Honestly, I just wanted to stay at home and watch tv. I wasn't in the mood for a party that both Syd and Stan would most likely be at. Plus, I hated social settings.

"Ye— Okay. Yeah, let's do it." Dina turned to face me. "Y/N?"

"Uhm..." A waitress came by and dropped my food off at the table. "I don't... I don't think so. I'll probably just stay home."

"Oh... Well, I guess it'll be just me and Syd then."

Great.

———

"Hey girls, good breakfast?" Syd's mom walked up to us as we stood by the counter after breakfast.

"Yes. Thanks so much, Mrs Miller." Dina smiled, handing her the bill.

"Don't worry, girls. It's on me."

"Thank you." I smiled.

"How come you always make me pay?" Syd asked.

"Because Dina and Y/N are nicer to me than you are, and I like them better than you."

That was a bit harsh.

Dina laughed awkwardly. "Okay, I'll see you later."

"Bye Syd." I muttered.

"Bye."

I walked out of the diner with my hands in my pockets.

"I can't believe it. Syd and Stan. Do you think they're gonna go to Homecoming together?" Dina asked as we walked out.

"I dunno." I shrugged, not looking up from the pebble on the ground I had been kicking.

"Well, that means we just need to get you a date!" Dina giggled excitedly.

The only person I would want to go with clearly has no interest in me.

I sighed and shrugged again.

"What's wrong?" Dina's smile dropped.

"Nothing."

"Don't lie. I can tell something's up." Dina pushed. "Is it cause you don't have a date yet?"

Sometimes she can be so oblivious.
