After class, Y/n walked out of the school. As she was walking home, she heard her voice being called from afar.

"Y/n! Hey wait up!"

She turned around and saw the brunette boy from earlier running towards her. She slowed down for him to catch up and they started walking side by side down the sidewalk.

"Hey! Are you taking the bus?"

"Oh no I'm not, you?"

"No I'm walking home, do you live close to the school?"

"Not too far, I live on Huntington Drive"

"No way! My family just moved into a house on that street."

"Really? That's crazy. Where did you move from?"

"My family moved from Houston,Texas. My dad got this really good job at a military base here."

"That's quite a drastic move, Houston to Toronto... How are you liking Canada so far cowboy?"

Luke laughed at her joke and continued on.

"It's not too bad, it sucks that all my friends are back home but that doesn't mean I can't try to make new friends here."

"Don't worry, from what I saw this morning, all the girls at school are lining up to get to know you."

"Oh yea? What about you?" He smirks and looks at Y/n anticipating her reply.

"Eh you're not really my type" She said in a joking tone and he reacted by playing along and gripping onto his chest like his heart had been shot.

"Ouch Anderson, that one hurt" they both laugh and smile.

"Uhm anyways, don't you have a cowgirl back home waiting for you to become a city boy?"

"Oh no, after I broke up with my girlfriend, my dad told us we were moving so I guess everything worked out. Right now I just wanna make some friends and then maybe something else. Who knows."

"Makes sense."

"What about you? Do you have a city boy waiting for you to text him?"

"Ha-ha no I don't. Never had one, never really thought about it. I guess all the guys at school are kind of too immature for my taste."

"Good to know..."

After a few minutes of walking in silence, the two reached the first home.

"Well this is me... it was nice talking to you, hopefully we can do it again."

Y/n was secretly dreading having to go into her house. She wished that she could walk and talk with Luke all day but she knew she had to face her family at some point.

"Why don't we just plan to walk home together every day? We can be walking buddies!"

"That would be nice Luke"

"Hey, what's your number?"

"Wow, are you already asking for my number? At least take me to dinner first buddy"

They laughed at her joke and then finally settled down. Y/n smiled and grabbed Luke's phone out of his hand and he did hers. She put in her number and handed him back the phone and he did the same.

"Awesome, I'll text you later, okay?"

"Sounds good"

"Alright, see you later Anderson"

"See you tomorrow Smith"

They exchanged a smile and both walked their separate ways. Luke down the street and Y/n up the stairs towards the front door of her house.

She opened the door and was immediately greeted by her step mother yelling.

"What took you so long? You were supposed to be here right after school! Y/n I hope you realize the whole world doesn't revolve around you. If your father and I say to be home at a specific time, you have to do what we say!"

Y/n rolled her eyes and walked up the stairs to her room.

"Did you just roll your eyes at me? Are you kidding me? You ungrateful child. You are worthless, I hope you know that. The only reason why you're still in this house is because your father can't see the demon you are."

The insults slowly started to fade as Y/n closed her bedroom door and locked it.

Jesus christ she's crazy... let's see what Luke's up to

She opened her phone and texted Luke.
