A M E L I A

TODAY IS the day. The day that I enter the Academy Of Magic. My first day as a student mage.

As I head down the stairs I can't help but think what it'll be like inside the Academy. Will it be gratifying? Will it be overwhelming? Or will it give me great amounts of pressure? That will be all answered today.

"Good morning sweetheart." My father greets me as I head down. Judging by his expressions he seems to be as excited as I am about the academy.

"Dad, are you the one excited about my first day instead of me?" I ask him out of curiosity. "Was it obvious? My precious daughter is following in my footsteps, Of course I'm excited."

I chuckle from his response, he never fails to make me happy.

"I'll be leaving now!" I say my last goodbyes before leaving our house.

As I walk through the forest, I can feel my worries melting away. The calm wind, the leaves slowly flowing, the flower petals falling. This forest is a true blessing.

I look up above and see nothing but trees covering the sky with their large branches and leaves. Holding out my scroll, I mutter these words.

"To the mana flowing in body, I command you. Take me to the city of Dainswood."

I could feel the mana flowing through my veins. The flow started getting faster and I close my eyes. Hearing a slight ringing in my ear, I open my eyes to a busy street.

Coffee shops, ladies in dresses, fancy carriages. It's Dainswood City! The aroma of meat being grilled fills the air. I head towards where the smell is coming from and it's a street vendor! There were many others looking forward to buy a piece of the mouthwatering, flavorful meat.

I try to get ahead of the crowd surrounding the street vendor but I was pushed back by the people in the streets in a hurry.

Being unsuccessful in buying a piece of meat, I head to the Main Street since it's much much easier navigating the Academy from there on.

Main Street was filled of different people from different occupations, to people from different nations. I recognize that some people were also wearing the Academy's uniform.

"Help! A thief stole my bag!" A woman screams from behind. I take a look at what's happening and see a masked man heading towards me. He then runs through me with full force causing me to fall down.

"Ouch! Hey stop, you thief!" Then a group of Soldiers come running through the street, pursuing the criminal. Just another normal day in Dainswood City.

As I stand, I clean dirt the from my uniform when a man suddenly offers his handkerchief to me. "Are you okay Miss? You seem to have fell down."

"Oh, I'm alright." He also seemed to be a student at the Academy as he was also wearing the uniform. "Oh no, I insist! Please take the handkerchief."

He kept on insisting so I just took the handkerchief. "Thank you, but you really didn't have to—hey!" He suddenly holds my arm without my permission. "It seems that you have injured your palm."

"Really?" And I did injure my palm. It must've been when I fell down. "Wait, here." He then proceeds to wrap the handkerchief around the wound.

"Please have that checked before it gets infected." He advices me before running off. I didn't get a chance to ask for his name.

"Thank you!" He then waves while running in the distance.

After a long agonizing walk, I finally reached the Academy gates. I stopped walking to catch my breath. Many other students were also entering, I step inside and everything in my sight lights up.

Then my vision goes bright. All I could see was white void, a few seconds later I could finally see again. I was thengreeted by a new location.

The buildings were completely different from the ones I saw before stepping onto school grounds. Was I teleported? Or was what I saw just an Illusion?

The buildings had changed architectural style and also changed sizes. Some buildings shrunk while some became taller. I am mesmerized and confused on how they did this. The most talented of illusionists must of did this!

As I was admiring the school, I notice a man on the main building's roof who seems to be casting a spell.

Ignoring him, I take a step forward. Then the ground starts shaking and—boom! A giant holographic version of the man I saw on the roof appears in the middle of the lawn.

"Welcome students to the wondrous School Of Magic!"

All the students stop and turn to the field in unison. We all seemed to be curious in the large figure that suddenly appeared.

"First, my name is Helios Xanders. Your one and only principal."

The man says the last sentence in an alluring tone. We were all shocked to hear that our school's principal was as young as him. I myself, expected him to be an elderly person.

"Second, I would like to thank you all for choosing the Academy of Magic as your learning facility. We cannot thank you enough!" Principal Xanders adds to his previous statement in a sarcastic tone. "Is this a joke?" The student next to me says and scoffs.

"What is a joke for you? Uh—Miss Yulia?" The principal says with a smug look on his face. "N-nothing is! I am sorry Principal!" She stutters as she apologizes. She started panicking as she was surprised that he heard she said that, even knowing her name as well.

"Really? Then please come see me in the principal's office." The principal states. "W-what!? Please, I can't get expelled on my first day—" The girl was then cut-off when Principal Xanders suddenly appears in-front of the girl.

"Then state all six elements that one can have as an affinity." The principal asks the girl who is now shaking in fear. "I-what? But there are only f-five elements—"

"Wrong! The six elements are Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Light, and Dark!" She was cut-off again with his sudden statement. "You must've at least known this when you took our entrance exams, right?"

The girl being unable to speak because of fear then starts bowing repeatedly as an apology. "I'm sorry I'm sorry! I won't make fun of you again!" She then runs off almost tripping.

"This is the Academy of Magic! Not another school with intensely high fees for no reason and doesn't teach you a single thing." Some students laugh at his remark. "We promise you the best quality of education! Education that is out of this world!"

Before saying his last sentence, he reappears on the main building's roof.

"So please, stay with us until the end."

Chapter One End.
