Epilogue

"Marry me, [name]"

Itachi proposed to you several years ago, but what was your answer?!

You were at home in the kitchen, while your twin boys were playing together in the living room.
You left your phone on the table in the living room where you have been with the kids earlier. The phone started ringing, and from your spot in the kitchen you could hear the music, sweet melodies, that means the called is Itachi.

"It's dad! Let's answer!", your older son, who takes after Itachi the most of his feature, black straight hair and fascinating black eyes and fair skin, said excitedly to the younger twin, who also looked a lot like his brother, just with your eyes instead of Itachi's.
"You always beat me up to it!", the younger said with a pout protesting, but his brother seemed to make it up to him as he opened the speaker so they can both talk to their dad.

"Mom, dad said he will be here in an hour", they both said as they joined you in the kitchen as you nodded at them, the younger's eyes quickly widened seeing the dango you have been making.
"Yay! Dango!", he exclaimed, reaching his hand trying to touch it.
"Take off your nimble fingers! It is for you three after dinner", you said with a smile, taking the tray of dango hearing your oldest snickering at his brother who sighed in defeat, now he'll wait until Itachi is back.
You looked at them playing around chasing each other or playing hide and seek, their voices and laughter filling the place...you smiled a genuine smile, remembering when Itachi once told you he will not try anything with you unless you're fully agreed to, he kept his promise, and now you're happy you have these two beautiful boys.

It was bedtime, you were with ths kids in their room, you sat on the edge of the bed of your younger boy, flipping through the pages of a storybook you took from the bookshelf.

"Mama!!! Please tell us the story of the Samurai!!!"
"Yes mom!!"
"Again?!", you said with a chuckle.
"Yes please!!", they said simultaneously.
You giggled at their excitement, you shut the storybook and put it aside on the bedside table between the two beds. You thought for a little while, resting your hands in your lap and looking down at the two rings on your ring finger, their diamonds sparkling under the light of the lamp, and the bracelet on your wrist, each one of those jewels has a dear memory close to your heart.

"I'll tell the story, but this time, I'll give emperor, the samurai and the girl names...", you said, smiling at the two boys, gently fiddling with your wedding ring.
"Okay!"

"So...long time ago...there was an emperor. He was strong and feared by all, his name was...um...Chikage...", you started telling the story.
Itachi was standing right out of the room, leaning his back against the wall beside the door and listening to your story as well, as your voice came through the cracked door.

"One day, the young emperor started thinking about the future of his throne, and that he needs a hier to take over after him. He started looking for the suitable woman to marry her and make her his empress, but in all those women surrounding him and even among his concubines, he couldn't fine the right one...no one attracted him to the point to take as a wife...", you said with a smile, gently brushing your younger son's silky hair.

"The emptor then asked his courtiers to start looking for the right bride in all the noble houses of the empire, and look among the older daughters...", you trailed off.

"There was the...[last name] family, one of those noble families, they had two beautiful daughters, that caught the eyes of all men. The emperor decided to leave this house at last, in case, he couldn't find his calling somewhere else...he visited all houses, saw all the girls, no one of them really made him feel that, she would be the rightful wife and the mother of the future crown prince", your smiled, hearing one of the boys yawn.

"His last destination was the [last name] house. He saw the older sister, she was really a beauty...but, she wasn't the one the emperor was looking for, his heart didn't beat when he saw her. The emperor asked to see the younger sister as well, making their father confused, since only eldest daughters were concerned according to the emperor himself, and so, the younger sister wasn't prepared for this...", you said, seeing that cute look of concentration on your twins faces despite the sleepiness they felt.

"Neverthelss, they managed to prepare the younger sister quickly and present her to the emperor. There, he fell in love immediately with her, saying that he will marry her, she was the one. She was perfect for him, she captured his heart immediately...her name was [name]", you said, Itachi frowning slightly, still standing out of the room.
"Like you mom!!", your youngest son said.
"Yes", you nodded with a smile.
"What happened then?", the older asked, wanting to hear more.

"What the emperor didn't know, is that, [name] was in love with a samurai from an old samurai family that served the [name] family, his name was...Itachi", you said, making Itachi smile.
"Like Dad!!", they both exclaimed.
"Yes, so...one day before [name] marries the emperor...she run away with her beloved samurai Itachi, but before doing so, she asked her older sister to take her place in marrying the emperor. [Name] and her sister looked alike a lot, same hair and same eye color, same features, yet [name] was much sweeter, nicer and kinder...for those who don't know them closely, they wouldn't see much of a difference, but to the emperor...it was a huge difference between them", you said, stopping for a while as if thinking for a while, then continued.

"Her sister accepted happily since was gonna marry the young handsome and powerful emperor. But sadly, when the emperor found out his bride wasn't [name] whom he fell immediately in love with, he went nuts...he killed the older sister and all the concubines in his palace...", you trailed off, seeing the disappointment look on both your kids faces.

"He took his horse and sword and went after [name] by himself, and when he found her and Itachi, a fierce battle happened between the two of them, that ended in emperor Chikage killing Itachi, whose last words before passing away in [name]'s arms were that...he will find her and marry her in another life...another timeline...", you trailed off, looking at your rings again, while Itachi sighed, closing his eyes...

"The emperor took [name] back with him and married her, but...she wasn't happy...no one else knows what happened later...and that's the end", you said with a sigh, but your kids didn't seem to like this ending.
"No!!", they both said in protest.
"That's the same story I told you before, you used to like that the strong emperor won", you said, crossing your arms over your chest smirking a little.
"Yes, but now you gave them names...I hate the emperor for killing dad and taking you from him!!", your older son said with a pout, sitting in bed and crossing his arms over his chest like you.
"Hm...that's what happened in the story, but, now I'm here, with dad, and we have you two. Now, it's time to sleep", you said with a smile, standing and stretching, then laying your older son back in his bed and making sure he is well covered.

"Mom?", you looked aside to your little son, who seemed pretty sleepy.
"Yes sweetheart?", you moved next to him, gently passing your hand over his head.
"I love you", he said, making you smile softly at him.
"Me too mom", the other one said.
"Well I love you too, all three of you. Now goodnight", you said, kissing them both on their foreheads, turning off the lights then leaving the room and closing the door after you, then taking Itachi's hand and going to your garden, to spend some time alone there...
