(This is the first time in a long time for me trying to make a book so I apologize for any mistakes in my writing)

I've been planning this for months but never had the time to go through with it. But here I am, bag of clothes in my hands staring at my front door. I'm starting to think I'll be safer to be anywhere but here. It's currently 3:47 AM on Saturday. Dad and I had a fight earlier maybe around 8:11 PM. We fight everyday over stupid things, I'm just tired of it.

I look at the clock, it's 3:50. Already 3 minutes have gone by just by me thinking. It's now or never I tell myself. I reach for the door handle. I had already remembered to grab the key from the kitchen drawer. I see my dad in that drawer all the time but he didn't want me touching it. I guess it's because he knew I wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.

Once I get the key into the lock I slowly and quietly turn the key. I open the door. I take a moment to breathe in the fresh air from outside before stepping out of the house and into the grass. I close the door and leave the key under the mat just in front of the door. 'I guess I should get going' I think to myself.

Stepping out of the grass onto the dirt track I look back behind me.

"Fuck you, dad" I say under my breath.

I turn my head once more and finally step out of our dirt driveway walking near the road. Cars shouldn't be out at this time so I won't be easily found by anybody, and people don't come down this street anyway unless they live here.

Only a few other people live near me. Down this road it's just the house across the road from us, their neighbors, and a broken down car. I see plenty of people using that car for shelter just for the night but I haven't seen anyone stay there.

Down the road there's also a family of 4. Janice Royer and her three children, Patrick, Paige, and the youngest, Sammi. They're sweet people and have a fair amount of money. Im not sure why they chose to live down on this street with all of the lower class people like me but, she did. Apparently her fiancé left her the day before their wedding was planned.

I find myself walking lost in thought. I finally snap myself together before turning right into town. I brought a bit of money I saved up with me to buy something to eat but I hadn't thought about how early it was in the morning.

My favorite gas station is open though. I walk on straight before turning right once more to the gas station.

"Hey, Lucas!"

There was a voice as soon as I walked into the gas station. It was Rob, someone a few years older than me working at a gas station early in the mornings and late at night. Rob has dark brown hair with bright blue eyes, freckles all over his face. He is fair skinned with a scrawny body type.

"Hi, Rob." I say avoiding eye contact per usual.

"What are you doing out her so early in the morning?"

I wasn't about to tell him what I was planning to do, he's not my friend so, he doesn't need to know.

"I just wanted to come down to say hi."

Rob looked at me with a smile on his face, grinning ear to ear.

"Well, gosh! I love to have company at such late hours! I usually just have to clean this place up and make sure nobody steals anything so it's great to have you here!"

There he goes, talking like there's no tomorrow. I'm not all that interested in being friends with Rob but I can tell how badly he wants to be my friend. Poor guy.

I decided to buy some gummy bears as a snack, they're sweet to suck on if I'm being honest. The taste is so nice in my mouth, especially the red ones.. I love gummy bears I guess you could say.
