fuck. mordecai didn't know a breakup would hit him this hard. 3 years, and for what? three years with that pony. it was just know that the pain, the urge to talk about her non-stop,
when she first told him she was leaving he was fine, unbothered, if a bit in denial. they had shared so many memories. every goddamn memory. just wasted. he looked down at his weird little bird hands knowing those were the hands twilight sparkle used to hold. he was devasted. sighing, looking at all the polaroids they had taken. parties, road trips, karaoke, all of it.
he supposed he'd better do something to distract himself. to numb the pain and heartache of never being able to say 'hey, im mordecai, this is my girlfriend twilight.' for what felt like eternity, he clenched his eyes shut and slowly opened them, walking to his bathroom.
great. the bathroom was a mess, just like him.he splashed some ice cold water on his face, cleared his throat and opened the door. the sunlight waves bursting his eyes. he took a step outside, adjusting his eyes to the blinding light. he thought taking a walk would take his mind off it, but all it did was remind him of the walks he used to go on with twilight.
she used to smile and hold his hand as she talked endlessly about how her and her friends used the power of friendship to save the sky, once. he loved hearing her talk. he wished twilight was still here. he sighed, giving in again. looking through their old messages on his phone when all of a sudden-
THUD.
"um, watch where you're going. do you KNOW who i am?" a deep voice brashly asserted. he seemed to be in a bad mood. a terrible mood.
mordecai would usually start protesting against him, but instead he just sighed. "sorry, dude. i'm just going through a breakup and...yeah..." when he'd look up at him, he'd notice something. he was no way like twilight, but he was...a horse. like her. of course, mordecai didn't believe in love at first sight. he had been friends with twilight 4 years before they started dating. but something about this was just different. there was some sort of spark. mordecai shook his head, no, idiot, it's not love, you just bumped into him!
his face softened ever so slightly. "oh, i...know what you're going through. everyone in my life has left me. my roommate moved out because..." he seemed to trail off. "nevermind. sarah lynn just died, and i'm..." he sighed. "i'm pretty sure it's my fault."
mordecai's eyes widended. "that's really rough, man..." he nodded. "i'm mordecai."
the horse ruffled his own jet-black hair. "bojack. horseman, obviously." he chuckled "so, mordecai, d'you wanna stay over? you look like a mess." mordecai barely even knew this man but he just desperately needed to get over twilight.
