The next morning she had awoken to a warmth huddled into her side. Pushing the blanket off herself she picks up the boy who was on her side. Placing him on the cot she had been sleeping in, she tucks him into the blanket.
Glancing around the room she could see a bit of mess left from the fun nights of games, along with slight dirt footprints from Howl that was left behind.
Quickly grabbing a rag, she wets it and cleans the footprints off the floor, as the dirt would not be fun to walk on barefoot.
As she had tossed the rag into the sink, she had the idea to make breakfast for her and Markl. Taking the pan she returns her gaze to the fire who was resting. Nudging the wood with the pan she smiles down at the fire.
"You wouldn't mind, would you?" She questions.
"You ask every time" Calcifer huffs, his eyes opening to look at her "It's not like I have a choice"
She only hums in acknowledgement at his words, beginning to cook on his fire. Her thought had begun to wander to the details of the page she was asked to read yesterday. There was not a clue why Howl would allow Markl to read and learn such a dangerous spell, it had bothered her.
The fact the pages on the book seemed to write out her destiny left the girl lost. Seeing the markings on those pages left her to wonder.
Why
Why in the world would someone create a spell like that. Not only create the spell but use it.
She knew humans could be bad sometimes, but the fact some would go to such extents out of hate or pure curiosity, disgusted her.
A familiar strong scent wafted through her nose as she flipped the food she was cooking.
Once it was all flipped she had gone back to mulling in her thoughts. From what the page had shared there was no cure. What was she to do? It meant the imminent end was waiting for her. Perhaps she could enjoy her life to the fullest with what was left.
She knew she was giving up too easily, but that was how she was. The most powerful wizard had no option to help, as he was too indulged in chasing women which left her options that of none.
"What's cooking?" Markl whispers, tapping her side as to not startle her.
"I'm making breakfast" She smiles, snapping out of her suffocating thoughts.
The young boy stared at her with a blank expression, "I know that but I meant what. Like the food"
"How about you sit down and I'll get your plate~" She teases the boy, booping his nose.
"And my plate?"
Her smile drops as she huffs, turning back to the fire. Calcifer peeks and looks out at her, a small huff being released, surprised at the blonde's early appearance. She simply rolls her eyes in response, setting up two plates, the amount right for her and Markl.
"Oh come on" Howl whines out noticing the two plates. (Y/N) wasn't sure what his mood would be today but didn't care enough to try and figure it out.
Setting her share of food onto a plate, she shoves it into Howl's hands without looking at him.
Just because she was still giving him the silent treatment did not mean she would ignore the basic human rights to food. Plus she could easily make herself more food.
"So you do care" Howl chuckles while taking his plate, sitting at the table with Markl.
Ignoring his comment which she wasn't sure if it were to be a compliment or insult, she had begun cooking her meal.
