Chapter 1:
MY POV:

It's 6:00 am and I'm already at my barn taking care of the horses with a few other people. I look up at the orange sun with tints of red and yellow as it leaves the Earth's ground and starts to hide in the forsets. I hear a slight whinny and notice Little Bear has gotten all the other horses into a whinny as well. I chuckle, "Oh Little Bear." And continue throwing down hay nets from the hay loft. "Thanks Sam! Thats all we need for now!" Irene calls, taking a wheelbarrow with Trinity. I head down to the tack room where I find Marina and Katie looking at the lesson schedule. "Sammie!" "Hi!" We hug each other even though we saw each other yesterday. "Looking at the lesson schedule?" "Mhm." Katie says, "I need to know what time im riding." "Well obviously, you ride Nightlight a different time everyday." They giggle and I walk out of the tack room. I go over to Mary and say "Hay nets are stuffed and being put around." "Okay, thanks Sam." "Yup." I walk out of the barn and towards the Cross Country field where I see Archer and Kay practicing as usual. I decide to sit on the fence and watch for a minute. It's as if Archer knows the course. I smile at Kay as she finishes and her and Archer come trotting up to me. "Nice practice out there on the field Kay." "Thanks, can you do me a favor?" "Mhm, anything." "Do you mind tacking up Torrey and bringing her to the indoor and warm her up?" "Yeah sure thing Kay." I say, holding back my excitement. I never would have thought I would be able to ride Torrey! I love her so much! Even her oddly shaped fetlocks and heels. She looks so fun to ride. I watch as Kay trots off and picks up her canter heading towards a jump. I jog down the path and slow down to a walk and walk into the barn. I walk over to Torrey's stall and read the name plate "Tornada." I mumble to myself. "Are you gonna get her ready for Kay?" I hear Irene's voice call from across the barn. "Yeah, she asked me to warm her up and do some simple things with her." I inform Irene. "Okay." I slide the lock open and slide the stall door open enough for me to get in. "Hi Torrey." I say in a calm voice. She lets me put on her halter and I lead her to the cross ties where I grab my curry comb and brush her coat in circular motions. After I put away my curry comb, I take out my dandy brush and brush Torreys coat, smoothing over the ruffled hair and getting the dirt off. I put away my dandy brush and take out my body brush, and go over Torrey's coat again. I finally take out the hoof pick and pick out Torrey's hooves. "Good girl." I speak. I finish tacking up Torrey and as soon as I'm walking out of the barn Mary asks me why im going to the ring with Torrey. "Kay asked me to warm her up." "Oh. Okay. Have fun!" She calls as I slide open the door to the indoor and grab the mounting block. I carry the mounting block, while leading Torrey, and slide the indoor door shut. I lead Torrey to the outside ring, place the mounting block of to the side, lead Torrey so I can get on her, get on the mounting block, and hoist myself up onto her. I smile with content, "You gonna be a good girl, Torrey?" I say, she whinnys in response, as if to say "Yes!" I kick her sides to get her up into the walk and walk around the ring. It's a little bit windy, but I'm glad I have my helmet on and a hair net so my hair doesn't go everywhere. I cluck to Torrey to make her go into a trot and she agrees, She picks up a nice normal trot and we do a few 20 meter circles at one end and do the same at another. After we do that I kick her with my outside leg and squeeze with my inside and she picks up a smooth canter. "Good girl." I praise Torrey. After a canter circle at both ends we go down to the trot again and I trot down the center line. We turn right and pick up the canter. I notice Kay on Archer watching me and she smiles as I pass by her and Archer who are walking into the outdoor ring. I smile back, bring Torrey down to a trot at center line and trot over to Kay and Archer. I slow Torrey down to a halt and Kay asks me, "Thanks! Can you do me another favor?" "Yeah, sure, anything." "Do you mind cooling off Archer?" "Sure thing, but as soon as I'm done, I have to put him away and tack up Little Bear so I can ride with Katie and Marina, Trinity and Irene, oh and Abby." "Okay, you guys can do whatever, as long as you don't go too far." She tells me. "Okay, we won't." I hop off Torrey and Kay hops off Archer, we switch horses and Kay takes off on Torrey towards the cross country field at a walk. I click to Archer and say "C'mon boy." We walk off as well and I follow Kay to the cross country field but, I make sure I walk Archer away from Kay and Torrey, but I still watch them. After a little while, I check my watch and decide that I should put away Archer, and go tack up Little Bear. I hop off Archer and I lead him to the cross ties where I untack him, brush him down, and put him in his stall. "Sammie, are you gonna go get Little Bear?" "Yeah, you gonna get Jewel Abby?" I respond. "Yeah, who else is riding with us?" "I think the normal people, Katie, Marina, Irene, Trin." " What about Ben?" "I thought he was sick." "Oh, that's why he isnt here today." " I chuckle, "Why else wouldn't he be here? After all, he wouldnt miss a day to see Irene, especially because they're dating." "True." We chuckle and clip lead ropes to our horse's halters and lead them to some empty stalls since the cross ties are taken up by Frosty, Nightlight, and Danny. I brush Little Bear, and tack him up just in time. "Is everyone good?" I hear Marina ask. "Yup!" we all say in unison and lead our horses to the mounting block. I'm the first to get on, and walk forward so the others can get on as well. Once the others are on, I say, "Lets do simple warm-ups in the outdoor, then we can go on the cross country field and go on trails. "Okay!" "Sounds good!"
