LITTLE BEARS POV:

Sam kicks me in my side to tell me to walk on. I walk. She turn me to the left, and we walk down the long side of the out door arena. After we walk around the ring she tells me to pick up a trot, Sam and I are in the lead of the line of horses and girls trotting down the center line now. "Good boy." Sam praises me. "Thank you." I say, but as usual she only hears a neigh. I feel her core sink down into the saddle, hips forward, and outside leg slide back, with pressure on her inside. I pick up a nice easy canter. I'm glad I got over my problems after the injury I had a few years ago. Sam was only twelve then... its been about two or three years. Probably three. Sam brings her hips forward and tugs a bit at the reins, telling me to slow down into a trot. I slow down, and we trot around the ring for a bit. I notice, she is doing a sitting trot. When we go dow the center line, I notice everyone is doing a sitting trot. "Good girl." I hear Abby praise Jewel, the greenest horse out of all of us. "Guys I think im gonna have a quick canter down by A." Sam says, better get ready. "Okay! I'll canter behind you Sammie." Katie says, "Same here!" Irene speaks. "The rest of us will all go have a canter or two at the other end!" Marina says, informing the rest of the group. I feel Sam's inside leg put pressure, and her outside leg slide back and kick me enough to tell me to canter. I'm not entirely sure if she wants me to keep going. Oh wait, never mind, she did the same aid again, confirming that she wants me to canter. I pick up a nice easy canter, and as we are turning the corner to go onto a twenty meter circle, I catch a glimpse of the other three girls and their horses down at the other end cantering and doing the same as us. "Good boy!" I hear Irene, Sam, and Katie say, praising us horses. After we go a few circles on the canter, Sam tugs at the reins, requesting me to go down into the trot. I listen. "Alright. We're all warmed up! Lets go on the trail and later cross-country maybe?" Sam asks. "Yeah!" The rest of the girls chime, and a few neighs from us horses. "I can't wait to go cross country after this crazy winter!" Jewel whinnies, "Oh calm down Jewel, it isn't as bad as the winter a few years ago when the girls were about twelve!" Frosty interjects, "Oh that was a bad winter-" "But probably the best summer!" Nightlight reminds us. "Oh yeah that was a really good summer!" Danny says. "Great competition season too!" I say, reminded of the many blue ribbons True North Farm won that year. "Oh yeah!" The others agree. I hear Trinity chuckle and say to the girls, "They're at it again! Whinnying and neighing and having a great time!" Sam asks for me to walk and slow down and I walk, leading the others out of the ring, past the paddocks, and into the cross-country field. Careful to steer clear of Archer and Kay, I warn the others. "Watch for Archer!" I call, staying over on the fence line. We finally reach the gate to the trails and Sam leans down, and opens it. She pats my neck. "Good boy, Little Bear." I nod my head, as if to say thank you. "Last one shut the gate!" Sam calls. "Got it!" Trinity calls. "Trinity's got it!" Tess calls, telling the horses. We walk about twenty feet, and suddenly, there is a log! "Too big to just walk over it," Sam calls out. "Its a huge log! No way around! Just over! We gotta jump it!" "Back up everyone!" Marina continues Sam's message. We all back up, and Sam and I are the first up. Sam signals me to canter, and I canter about four strides, and leap. It's been a little bit since Sam and I jumped a log like this, but I'm smart enough to keep an eye out for branches. I land and continue cantering about four more strides and slow down to a halt. "Good boy!" Sam praises. After everyone has jumped the log, we continue on at a trot. "Lets keep trotting incase there is another obstacle like the log." Sam suggests. "Good idea." We eventually slow down to a walk, for it is the end of the trail, and we are back where we started. The barn. "Okay, everyone lets go out to the field for lunch. We can take off saddles and put them on the fences. Just let everyone eat some food, and rest for a bit. Them we can mount up once again and go for some light cross country. Okay?" Abby says. "Good idea!" Sam and the other girls dismount us and take our saddles off. Not our bridles though. Thankful the tight strap around my belly is off, I take off down the field at a canter, and once I reach the far side, head back to the others. Once I reach the other horses and girls, I stretch my neck down to take a bite of the delicious, green, new grass that has been under the white wretched snow all winter. It seems as if its only been five minutes, when it's been about fifteen or so minutes and the girls are putting on our saddles, mounting up, and starting the light cross country courses. I canter across the field, leaping over logs, jumping down drops, hopping over ditches. After our courses are finished, the girls dismount and lead us all to the barn, where they untack us, brush us, and rinse our legs, and chests to cool us down, before putting on coolers, and leading us to our stalls for the night. "You did amazing out there today boy." Sam says, I nuzzle her affectionately. As she unclips my halter, and puts it up on the hook, I watch her. She smiles, and gives me a hug. "I'm so glad Kay let me buy you." I feel a bit of wet and realize Sam is crying. Sam never cries unless it's something big. {[ALL PEOPLE THAT KNOW SHAWN MENDES I LOVE YOU AND I HOPE YOU RECOGNIZE THAT]} She releases her grip and wipes away her tears, while smiling at me. "Good night Beasty, I'll miss you."
