Mirabella is a mute who lived on the orphanage with Anne. They both get picked to go to the farm. Mirabell meets Gilbert Blythe.

I sit alone at a desk and eat. "Bell I look and see Anne and Diana. 'I'm fine just hang out with your friends' I tell them. Anne gave me a look of sadness.
I know they don't like me.
I then see the girls all get up and leave. I look at Anne. She comes to sit with me. "What happened" I whisper. "I don't know" she answers.
I and Anne pack up. "Come on girls I can walk you two halfway home" I smile at her.
We walk home.
"What'd you say" "something awful I guess" I hug her.
We walk inside the house. "The two of you are an inspiration to think you've been friends since school" she puts her hat in my hand and Anne and I put them up.
"Kindred spirits forever, how do you do it? What's your secret?" I look at them.
They look at each other. I guess hard work.
"How was school today" I purse my lips. I walk upstairs in a rush "BELLE" She yell.
I go to the bathroom. I look in the mirror and take my hair out. I look at myself and sigh. Anne makes friends easily but I can't even do that god why. I run a hand through my hair. "Mirabelle" I hear Anne and open the door. "Are you okay" I nod.
Me and her flop on our bed. "Wanna tell me what happened?" I ask her. "I messed up I think," she tells me everything. "Wow that's rough" I state. "Tell me about it" she chuckles softly. "Wanna try doing homework?" I shrug. "Sure" "can't be that hard to figure out" we sat at the same time.
We start laughing.

The next day we walk the trail to school. I did my hair differently I braided it in a fishtail.
We stop when a figure steps out. Oh shit, it's Billy.
"Anne of green gables you and me were gonna talk, this doesn't concern you freak" I glare at him.
'Whatever she said was taken out of context Billy my sister, not like that' I sign. "Ya sure," he says understanding that I'm defending her but not the words.
"You said some pretty nasty stuff about my sister" 'who's your sister?' I ask and Anne says the same thing. "Prissy Andrews dummy" "I'm sure I didn't mean to be nasty" I go to shove him away from her but he pushes me down.
I look at my arm and feel a bruise forming.
"Is that why she was crying all night, my parents say that's slander" move dammit you can't be scared your whole life.
It's no use my body's frozen. "You two wanna get slandered" I feel my hands start shaking. You move your hands but you can't move your legs bitch.
'She didn't mean' "gonna teach you two a lesson, Fido you're a bad dog, bad dog," he says taunting us. He walks closer to me. Shut up shut up "how'd you like it if I tried that with you huh freak" he starts walking closer to me.
"Hey Billy" I look up and see a boy.
He walks closer to us examining the situation. "How's it going" he looks at him. "Hey Gilbert" "man it's- it's um it's good to be back" he looks at him.
"Uh yeah yeah welcome back" "yeah it's good to see you buddy so you guys playing a game or something right" I look at my hands. The drops of blood were gone so I wiped them off on my dark-colored dress.
"Looks fun but we should probably get to school hate to be tardy Mr. Philips sure gets his dander up about that," he tells him. I hand Anne her shit I mean stuff.
"Yeah I was just about to get going see you there" he turned to us and looks at me studying me. "You alright miss?" I go and grab my things. Anne walked ahead already "you're welcome" I keep walking catching up with her.
"Need anything else any dragons around here need slaying" I crack a smile. "No thank you" Anne responds for me.
"Who are you two?" he keeps asking following after us. "Uh miss, what's your name, miss?" Anne gives me a 'go answer him' look. I shake my head. 'No I don't think I will' I state.
"What you can't tell me your name?" I usually would answer but not right now.
He gets next to me and tries to talk again but he runs in front of me. "Here allow me" he opens the door for me. I squint my eyes at him confused.
I walk into the classroom and set my stuff on the hook. Anne smiles at him.
"Sorry she's mute but I'm not" my eyebrows raise at that. "Her name is Mirabelle and I'm Anne" she walks away after.
"Mirabelle what a beautiful name" 'he's cute' I say to myself. "Why thank you" my eyes widen and I blush and turn around. "I'm" "GILBERT" oh so he's friends with them guess I read him wrong.
I go outside to put my milk away.
I look to my left after hearing footsteps. "I don't know what you think you were doing walking with Gilbert Blythe" I stand up confused. "You can't talk to Gilbert Blythe you can't even look at him" I look at her like she's stupid. I mean she is but it's better she figured that out on her own.
"We'll see for yourself Ruby has liked him for 3 years she has dibs" '3 years and she hasn't confessed that sounds like her problem, not mine, and veeeery depressing' I sign to Diana. She shrugs "there there that nasty girl didn't know any better just like yesterday with your sisters' tall tales" "I didn't mean to walk with him we just ran into each other and it just happened" Diana translates.
"Well don't let it happen again" I sign something. "I can't say that" I wave my hand. "It's just some boy I can talk to whoever I want to besides you can have him I don't like him" she translates.
"How dare you it's not like he'd like a freak like you anyways who'd wanna be with a girl who never talks" with that, they walk off Diana sits next to me "I'll try to smooth things over" I look down at my lap. "Why do you always have to say everything," I ask myself when she's away.
"Belle" I look and see Anne. "Ready to head back in" I nod. She opens the door and we walk inside.
