It's the mid-Sixties, at hot-sunny San Francisco. A music scene inspired by acids or drugs. Hippies all around expressing love and peace, protests of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement. The government isn't really happy with this. A lot of teenagers and adults take a different path from their parents' expectation. They are rebellious, fierce and sometimes crazy. An 18-year old college student, Kyle was one of them. His dreams aren't approved by his parents instead they wanted him to be a successful businessman. Kyle refused and the only supporter is his grandmother. Kyle had an interesting musical background. He get his first guitar which is an acoustic guitar when he's about 13 by his parents. He also loved blues and rock'n'roll music and artists like Muddy Waters, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, B.B King, Robert Johnson, Lead Belly, James Brown, Little Richard and the new ones (The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Everly Brothers, The Yardbirds). He loves to play guitar and always learn a guitar skill, it's like he's a guitar god. He played on several bands like Spider's Back, a soul/blues band and Fish Sticks, a bubblegum pop/rock-'n'-roll trio. Sadly, those two bands didn't received any success and short-lived.
Kyle thought his dreams are ended and gave up. He decided to follow his parents' dream and attended at University of San Francisco, especially in Economics. He made some friends there, Michael and Edward. They both had same taste in music and often hang out. His friends are diverse. Michael is a Native American while Edward is an African-American. Racism is still an issue at the city that Kyle hated and didn't give a sh*t about it. He didn't care if he make friends with people with different skin. Sometimes a lot of people bullied him but he doesn't care. At the green fields, he and his friends saw Abdul, an exchange student from India playing a sitar under the tree. Kyle and his friends are amazed by his sitar playing and complimented his performance. They become friends with Abdul and give him a little tour of San Francisco on Michael's car.
Few days later, they went to a club and saw Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane play at the stage. They all become amazed especially Kyle. Kyle had a vision to form a band with his bands. They all gather at the grassfields and talk about music. Kyle asked, "Do you guys wanted to form a band?" Michael answered, "Yeah sure. I loved that idea. I can play a little bit of bass". Edward answered, "I think we can. I will be the drummer". Kyle asked, "What about you, Abdul? Do you want to join?" Abdul answered, "Sure. This would be my first time playing and sharing to the whole world". Kyle said, "I guess he's in". They both went to clubs but refused because no one didn't want them to play until they decided to play at the streets of the Haight-Ashbury. Kyle had written some songs and gave to the band but they also think of what name the band should be. Kyle asked, "What about Daylight Lust?" Edward said, "Ha? What's Daylight Lust?" Kyle answered, "Come on, it's like Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and Blue Cheer". Abdul said, "I think what he meant by Daylight Lust is loving someone in a broad daylight". Michael said, "I guess it was taken from his first trying LSD". At that time, there are a lot of bands are forming such as Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Blue Cheer, Big Brother & The Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service and more. They played a song that would become their first song called "Sunset Love" at the streets. A few of people are coming and it form a small crowd. The band gathered their amps and microphones from the college's music class. Their early musical style was described as "folk rock", "blues rock" and "raga rock". There is no one who approached them to play at their club but a middle-aged man named Daniel let them play at his club to comfort the band.
They played alongside Big Brother & The Holding Company. It gathered a large crowd. Kyle asked the A&R guy to record their songs and put it on a demo. They played some of their songs at the stage. Everyone's dancing, jumping and getting high. Daylight Lust soon become San Francisco early psychedelia bandwagons, they were on the rise. After finished playing a gig, they got a paycheck of 400 dollars, so the band split it into 100. The gang also met some hippies and really amazed by their purpose of being one of them. The gang are curious of drugs and tested a drug called LSD from their hippie friends. Kyle played a guitar while he's on LSD. It also brought an attention to the hippies and his bandmates. He was high and play like a guitar god, his guitar skills are wonderful.
