In 1978, the band all went to a trip down at memory lane at The People's Club. A San Francisco punk rock natives, Crossroads Sleepers performed at the club. They also met with Daniel, there's a new rock scene going on, with themes of rebellious, anarchy and anger. Not like psychedelia music with themes of free, love and peace. The band met with some punks crossing down the streets and they were quite surprised by their backstory and ideology. The punks also bow down to the band because their latest album was an influence on the punk movement. They were also amazed by Crossroads Sleepers' performance and their cover of the band's "What's Going On With My Life?".
They played at several music pubs and clubs around the San Francisco area. The fans are very happy and the music press is happy with their comeback. They didn't know if they're gonna play their old roots or the new one but they decided to do both. They also went heavy metal and a little bit of punk rock.
They make the world shaking with their comeback single, "More Than Friends", topped #3 at Billboard Singles Chart. Their song was described as "a mix of blues and prog with punk". They tour around the world, performed at several talk shows and get a lot of interviews due to their comeback. Two years later, they released their next album, Me, You & I. It received critical acclaim and commercial success. They also went heavy metal, progessive pop and punk rock, this also become a mix for the generation to come.

"A compilation of prog, jazz, raga, blues, folk and punk. It suppose to be strange but this record really shows that everything you experiment, the result is fabulous", said Mike Crystal of NME. They also got a lot of 10 star rating for this album and went to Rolling Stones' Top 100 Best Albums of the 1980s. The band went perform at talkshows and got interview too. They also released two live albums called Live at Woodstock and Live at Monterey International Pop Festival. The band went on a world tour. The label give the support that the band hasn't experienced. It makes them felt more loved. It's a great year for the band. They also toured with a support of U2.
Three years later, the face of rock music now gone to mellow pop, it's also sold well. It was described as "glam metal" and "soft rock", the MTV was full of long-haired artists and bands playing mellow pop rock music. The band decided to went to the ballad and mellow pop rock sound, still had their blues, folk, jazz and raga roots. They also shoot a various of music video from their album's songs. They released a single called Popular Kids. Few days later, the single went to the charts. The band also shoot a music video for it featuring a nerd kid facing the jocks and had a crush on the popular girl. The music video was soon played at MTV and got heavy rotation. Popular Kids soon become the most favorite music video. The band also discussed to change their music direction to the more friendly pop rock, some of them didn't agreed but they also still used their old roots, folk, blues, raga and a touch of progressive pop music. They also went away from their punk rock direction to the more poppy side. Abdul still plays the sitar and the sax. They also realized that they didn't really fit into the heavy metal genre. They released an album called That's How Life Goes, with themes of peace, freedom, childhood trauma, mental health and the issue of the world; hunger, economic crisis and war. The band also driven back to their memory with the hippies.
