The next few days Lianne keeps staring at her phone screen whenever she's got nothing to do. Bukayo never replied to her message and she feels like she said something wrong. One time she decides to be a bit bolder and this happens.
"Hey Li, what's going on?" Lily asks concerned. She has noticed the sad look on the face of her friend.
Lianne unlocks her phone and slides it over to Lily, so she can read the chat with Bukayo.
"He's such a wuss," the older girl says while shaking her head. "But damn girl, didn't know you could flirt,"
The other girl feels her cheeks heat up and smiles shyly. "Do you think he'll still come?"
"Do you still want him to come?"
Lianne moves her shoulders up and down. "I don't know, doesn't seem like he's really interested," she whispers.
Lily pulls Lianne closer. "Oh but he is interested Li," she winks at Lianne. "I'll make sure he'll come. God you two are so cute together!"
"We're not together Lils, he doesn't even dare to ask me out on a proper date,"
"Maybe you should make the first move? We're living in the 21st century for god's sake, girls can ask boys out," Lily says. "Let's make a deal if I get him to come to the wedding, you'll sweep him off his feet and ask him out."
Lianne looks down at her hands. "I don't know, I don't want things to be even more awkward between us."
Lily takes her hands. "It'll be okay Li. B likes you, he always has, so he won't say no."
Lianne looks back up to ask Lily what she means with he always has, but a customer enters shop and both girls get back to their job.
