Twenty questions, we tell the truth.
Mina is a new student from Japan. She moved to Korea because of family affairs. Mina is a shy and quiet type of person. She doesn't tend to do the first move in friendships, but she gets talkative in the long run.
Mina is smart and studios. She always aces her test. Mina is wealthy. Everything she owns comes from high-end brands all over the world.
That's what Dahyun knows so far. So for Mina to say that she wanted to know more about Dahyun came off as a bit of a surprise.
But here she was - sitting across Mina on the bed, a pillow on her lap.
"I'm Kim Dahyun. I'm the class president of our class and the president of the literary club... I like to read books." Dahyun's voice grew softer and softer as reached the last sentence, shy that she seemed like a nerd, but Mina prompted for her to continue.
"Chaeyoungie and Tzuyu-ah are my best friends. Many people call me 'dubu' because my skin is as pale as tofu. But other people also call me a vampire because I started to have a liking for everything red. Uhm..." Dahyun paused, glancing at the ceiling as she thought of what to say next.
"I play the piano and guitar... and I sing a little..." The last statement passed her lips like a whisper. She was a little embarrassed of putting that fact in. She did sing, but she just wasn't that confident with it.
"You sing? Can you sing a little for me?" Mina leaned in slightly, clearly interested to hear how Dahyun's singing voice sounded like, making Dahyun's cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
As much as Dahyun wanted to dig up a hole in the ground and hide, she thought that it was the least she could do for her. She did welcome her in her home and let her play on her Switch. So, Dahyun cleared her throat, signaling that she was going to start.
"Sure. But if it rains, it's not my fault." Dahyun said, earning a laugh from Mina. And it was music to her ears. It was healing.
"Oh my love
Did they tell you
Just how long a time
It took for me to get to you?
And when the world
Said it's impossible
Said it's improbable
The chances of me finding you
But nobody knows
How we go
Oh when we're alone
It's like we're home
My bones are safe
And my heart can rest
Knowing it belongs to you, you...
My world is changed
And it's cradled by
The comfort that is you..."
Dahyun sung, her voice soft and angelic just as Mina expected. She honestly found Dahyun's reading voice soothing, so it was not a shock for her to feel like she was being lulled to sleep.
"What about you? I wat to know more about you, Minari."
"Hold out your hands, Dahyun-chan." Mina looked down at Dahyun's hands, which were nestled on the cuddly pillow, then at her face.
"Why?" Dahyun asked playfully, a hint of mischief in her eyes.
"Just hold them out for me." Mina whined and Dahyun couldn't help but laugh.
It was the first time she saw her whine, and Mina was finally as flustered as she was moments ago. But to end her misery, Dahyun held out her hands in front of her, arms resting on the pillow. She shortly felt a familiar package in her hands.
It was another choco pie and a small piece of paper folded underneath.
I like you, Dahyun.
