The Last Note and the New Chapter

Church bells ring.

Mina and Dahyun were now seniors, graduating alongside Chaeyoung and Tzuyu who soon became a couple in the middle of the year. They haven't really admitted the status of their relationship to the two. However, they still weren't a thing by that time because Dahyun wanted to test the waters first. She wanted to get to know her more and Mina agreed. They were, however, mutually exclusive as they went on dates and turned down suitors.

And both Chaeyoung and Tzuyu were pretty fed up with it.

Dahyun and Chaeyoung were sitting under a tree in the school campus, the specific tree where they first met each other as a freshman.

"Dahyun-unnie, what are and Mina-unnie?" Chaeyoung glanced at her. She wanted her to say that they were together as a couple and not as friends.

"We're friends." And Chaeyoung stand corrected. As expected, Dahyun denied their entire relationship and every little intimate moment that made Chaeyoung and Tzuyu pretend to cough and vomit.

In a second, Chaeyoung hoisted herself up on her feet, her arms akimbo. If looks could kill, Dahyun could have been gone by now because Chaeyoung was glaring daggers at her. It was an understatement to say that Chaeyoung was disappointed.

"Unnie! You have to ask her out already! It's been what? Two years?" Chaeyoung's voice surely reached another building as a few students looked their way.

Dahyun stood up and patted Chaeyoung's shoulders as she tried to calm her down and make her sit back down on the grass.

"Chaengie, calm down." Dahyun whispered.

"Not until you two finally get it together!" With that, Dahyun covered the girl's mouth with her palm.

"Fine, fine. I'll ask her. Just keep your voice down." Dahyun sighed.

When Chaeyoung finally nodded, Dahyun took her hand away from her mouth and wiped it down on her skirt with a face of disgust. Dahyun had drool all over her hand.

Soon, Dahyun and Chaeyoung walked out of the campus to buy one of Mina's favorite snacks in the convenience store - a pack of chocolate chip cookies. Dahyun has been seing Mina munch down on cookies recently, and she had stored many of them in her backpack and in her room as her comfort food. So, Dahyun was certain that she was fond of it, and that she made a good choice of buying it for this one purpose.

She was going to ask Mina to be her girlfriend in the same way Mina asked Dahyun to be her friend.

It took Chaeyoung two hours to convince Dahyun to push through with her plan, but she finally managed to bring her to the empty classroom as to where the lovebirds had first met. Chaeyoung practically pushed her inside the room and locked the doors from the outside to ensure that she wouldn't escape. Just in time though because Tzuyu had brought Mina to the same room a minute after.

Mina also had a choco pie and a note in hand. And it made Chaeyoung chuckle.

"Dahyun also made one?" Tzuyu asked Chaeyoung once Mina was inside the room.

Although Tzuyu's question was vague, Chaeyoung knew what she meant and proudly nodded her head.

"Idiots." Tzuyu mumbled under her breath and chuckled.

Both of them knew that it would work, considering that they both talked them into it. If it didn't, they were up for another scolding.

As the door slid open and shut in a matter of seconds, Dahyun quickly turned around, almost dropping the treat in her hands. When she saw Mina, however, she internally panicked. No matter how long Chaeyoung had consoled her about the plan, she was never ready.

"Minari." Dahyun fiddled with the package in her hands as she looked at Mina. Upon realizing that Chaeyoung and Tzuyu teamed up for this, however, she couldn't help but break out a laugh.

"You too?" Mina asked. She was as amused as her.

"Yeah." Dahyun sighed softly before taking a few steps forward.

"Mind reading this for me?" Dahyun handed to her the tiny gift she had for her, and Mina did the same.

"Sure."

Mina and Dahyun opened the notes at the same time, and they both stared at it in shock and in happiness. Mina couldn't stop herself from smiling, so she covered her face with the small sheet and the pack of cookies. Meanwhile, Dahyun felt tears welling up in her eyes.

Instead of the question they both died to ask to each other, she read something much shorter, yet more heartfelt.

I love you - a statement they jokingly said to each other a bunch of times, yet never been said with complete seriousness and courage.

Dahyun felt hot tears roll down her cheeks as a tiny sob escaped her lips.

"Dahyunie?" Mina lowered the paper from her face and looked at Dahyun, who was covering her face with the items she received.

Mina immediately wrapped Dahyun into an embrace. She had one hand wrapped around her waist and another snaked up around her shoulders. Dahyun was trembling against her as she sobbed, and Mina comfortingly rubbed circles on her back as she softly hummed.

"I love you." Dahyun said between sniffles, and Mina soon felt Dahyun's arms encircle her tightly.

And with a single peak through the window, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu knew that their plan succeeded.

Dahyun was home.

Feels like home.
