Prologue
September. An early morning. Fresh dew lay out on the grass. It was 4:30 AM. A young, energetic man, Blake at the age of 13, stood next to his tree. Plants were growing. Flowers were spreading their aromas. Gigabeetles flew through the sky, carrying their young to the labs. Blake watched as the peaceful beetles soared. It was interesting how beetles could have such experience with flying. Incredible. A peaceful coo from a dove rang from above. Blake's smile rose upon his face. He felt a breeze and zipped up his jacket.
"Wow, I never thought the early morning would be so... so amazing!" Blake said softly, saying every word carefully so that they could flow perfectly. The smell of freshly brewed Earl Grey tea went through the air.
"You want some breakfast before school, son?" Blake's dad asked. The little boy brightened up a bit.
"Of course, dad." He walked into his house and took off his jacket. Blake hung it up and grabbed his phone. Breakfast was waiting for him on the table. As he ate his food, he was talking to his best friend, Rand. Rand was saying something about it being to early. Blake rolled his eyes and replied with, "You should be used to it, silly." Because really, he should be used to it.
"Well, you don't know how hard it is to sleep with someone on your mind.... a crush.... a best friend.... someone you need in life. How would you know? How do you know that the war is going to be true? Who ever said?" Rand questioned. Blake sat there in fear. He did know how that was. Maybe if they just talked more about feelings, not just nerdy things. It was hard accepting the truth. They were future livers. The people of the past drew pictures of the future. They were wrong. Perfect? No. No more smokers? Negative.
It was a tough life in this time period. People were preparing for war against aliens and a virus that would spread all over the city. But quite frankly, there are purple ships flying across the lands. Even Blake was worried. He wanted to save the ones he loved. If these times were to come, Blake wanted to protect his true love. There was no way he was going to lose her to some aliens or virus.
A tear rolled down his cheek at the thought. Blake wiped it away. You are stronger than this. Think of all the times we made it. He regained confidence and continued with his breakfast. Life was turning upside down. Maybe if scientists could figure out what was happening to humanity. Blake finished his meal and put his dish in the dishwasher.
Run up the stairs. Go into the room. Close the door. Blake then sat down on his bed and talked with Rand.
"Hey Rand."
"Oh hey."
"Is it weird that I feel weird?"
"Uh.... are you being crushy again?"
"Um no..?"
"I know you are, bro. Please don't hide these types of things from me."
"Fine. I'm really excited to go to school so that I can see you and one of your friends."
"What's with the slanted text?"
"O-oh nothing. My parents are coming to check on me. Talk to you later?"
"Okie. Bye."
Blake put his phone on his desk and looked up at his ceiling. What if she likes me back? Will we ever be something? I know Rand ships us, but I don't know. Difficult times were everywhere. People lost loved ones and others fought over who was going to be the next one to torture the person.
A pang of flames grew into Blake.
"AUGH!"
